This style is what got me inspired to draw again lately... Pop art/graffiti!!
While browsing art online, I saw work from an artist called Dean Russo. He has his own unique style of doing pop art dog portraits. I really wanted to try it!!
I won't explain everything here (instead, I'll write a Artist Cubby post about it), but its been really fun to do this.
Because I need a black ink photo for the base, I get to directly put my photography, love of dogs, and art into one project! I'm aiming to do a portrait for each dog owner based on Russo's style for Christmas.
~The names added here are currently only on this post version.
Jake the Golden Retriever (left) was my first attempt and although it relieved stress, it looks more digital and graphic instead of paint-ish. I may end up doing him again now that I've got a hang of the style^^
Molly the Pug (right) was harder to do! I experimented a lot more with brush textures on SAI so it was interesting! I also may do her again with a different photo. (I've posted them together so I won't spam too much ^^')
Last week, I started another pop artwork of my neighbour's cats and its looking much better so I'll be posting it after I finish the background <3
