Assignment 7 - Photorealism. Also, my first attempt at photorealism. I decided to draw Captain Jack because this picture is really interesting to look at - there a lot going on in expression, the hat, the hair, the gun, etc. What I didn't realize when I first started was that I would have to render the expression, the hat, the hair, the gun, etc. I have since learned a lesson in ambition, and that rendering hair in graphite is absolute torture.

The background was added hastily at the end, after some critique from my classmates who all agreed it needed a background. Definitely took some artistic license with it, hopefully it didn't ruin the drawing >_<

Tools - HB through 8B graphite, kneaded eraser, my finger.
Size - 20in x 11in. We had to double the original size of the photo.
Time - ~12hours
