(Alternate title suggested by my boyfriend: "Is It Tasty?" *sigh* He assures me he means the flower and not the girl... >_>)
The fires turned that night into day, a blood-red day filled with the screams of townspeople, choking dust, the acrid smell of smoke. The dragon's rampage felt as if it lasted for hours. His crimson eyes glowed gold in the firelight as he turned buildings into rubble. It was then that the dragon saw a small figure standing silhouetted in the smoke before him. He could see that it was a girl clutching something to her chest. With a steamy snort, he rumbled toward her. She did not shy away as he approached. Instead, she raised the hand that was holding something. It was a purple iris, the symbol of friendship. For the first time in his long life, the dragon was taken aback. It seemed as if the whole world held its breath as he reached a hand for her...

That story still needs a lot of editing but I'm in a rush right now. ^^; This was such a huge painting to do, I'm surprised I didn't run out of any of my tubes of paint. The amount of work makes me feel like I never want to do something this large again, though, haha!
