Yes! This is 100%! "orz Something that we work hardest on doesn't get noticed but the other thing we just doodled out of boredom gets the most.
I've tried to find a happy medium that if whatever I worked really hard on doesn't get the popularity I think it deserves then I need to work harder so that one day it does! >:-
Also with my comic Idolling at the time when I'm making the pages I'm like 'this is gonna be so awesome and better than last time' and then I post it and hate it immediately. It's probably a good thing. Constant improvement! :D

The comic could apply to writing too.
Sometimes, I will write a serious or dramatic scene,
and people will laugh at it, and I'm just like, " All that hard work for nothing!" D:
But, yeah. You're right about Van Gough, and other artists.
Some of my favorite artists aren't even popular, but should be, but in some ways, I think some artists are better off not being popular, if that makes sense.

At first I assumed you had made this comic about writing and I was like 'yes that happens to me all the tiiiiiiiiime!' Except then I go back in a few weeks and think where was my brain when I wrote this!?? xD
Don't get discouraged! Remember Van Gogh and many other brilliant artists were totally under-appreciated in their own time.
