It's true, for an introvert going outside and hanging out with friends is very tiring. I like going out with my friends, but I come home wanting to relax... People usually encourage me to get out more, but I've never really been ridiculed for liking to spend time by myself. Sorry to hear you've been given a hard time. :T
Something that people sometimes forget is that asking an introvert to hang out with people to become more socially comfortable is pretty much equivalent to asking an extrovert to spend more time alone to think and contemplate life. Both being socially comfortable and contemplating life/thinking things through are important, but some people are naturally more comfortable thinking while others are naturally more comfortable being social. I always see it as a difference of hobbies. One person likes drawing, another likes sports... One person likes thinking, another likes talking.
Heh, reminds me of that scene from "My Science Project" where they're all in typing class and the punk is sitting at his typewriter (80s movie :P) with all fingers but his index finger tucked in, typing one. letter. at. a. time. And he's raising his hand up pretty high in between each letter XD
Oh yeah; if you've been typing for a while like we've been, then it doesn't take all that much time. I think what takes the longest for me is if I'm not really in the mood to write, or I'm really struggling to figure out what to say next. That kind of stuff, you know?
Well, yes, but I read online that being around people can cause introverted people to feel exhuasted, or drained,
and they need time alone to ' recharge'
Also, I have anxiety as well, so that doesn't help matters.
I've been in a psychology college course, and Introversion means that you are quiet and reserve, but also don't mind being around a lot of people and don stuff.
Social anxiety means that you're shy towards people.
I forgot about jobs...hrmm..I think for the people who like face-to-face kind of things they should get those kinds of jobs, but introverted people can get the ones that don't require face-to-face interaction.
For me I don't think I'd ever want those kinds of jobs where I have to talk to random people face-to-face or on the phone...phones are even worse than face-to-face and typed 'cause I can't see your expression nor do I remember anything that you said and the majority of the time I can't hear you. It's like talking to TV static.
I sometimes will go silent for no reason,
like, if I don't know what to say, and that has made people frustrated, but it's not my fault, it's just how my mind works I guess.
I.AM.THE.SAME. except that i also mumble words and make faces (for no reason) and sometimes giggle at funny stuff i remembered. I just try my best not to laugh when this happens.. and when i talk to people I just stay silent and actually really don't know what to say. =.=''
I'm not totally against real life interaction,
I mean, sometimes, you HAVE to interact with real people,
and so far, I haven't met any rude or mean people.
It's just that, I'm not really good with talking to new people,
I often mumble my words, or look down to the floor.
Sometimes, out of nervous habit, I will blush and giggle,
which probably freaks out people. :S
It's gonna be difficult for me to find a job,
unless I get one online, but if I get a job online, then I most likely would get distracted easily by the internet.
I'd probably be better off with a real life job, maybe a cashier, or a person who works at a video store. Um, not to sound lazy or anything.
It would take them probably hours just to write a few paragraphs.
I don't mean that in a bad way, but I've seen how they type, and well, they do like, one letter at a time.
Not to brag, or anything, but I'm a fast typer,
probably because I've been using computers since I was 10.
Haha! This happens to me ALL THE TIME. Same for my brother. My mom is always arguing with me about going outside. I would if I liked the place where I lived and if I had nothing else to do, but I'm usually busy drawing pictures. Drawing pictures doesn't seem that great and productive, but for a person who wants to improve to the greatest of their ability it is needed.
Also I argue about the face-to-face thing that it isn't much better than talking online because with face-to-face you might read their expression wrong or not pay attention to what they said etc. It doesn't create better relations either.

Writing is totally work! (Goodness knows it is; I've been trying that and it's not always easy o_o) They should sit down and try writing something themselves if they think it's so easy.

Ho man, does this ever hit home for me.
People just don't understand. We need pamphlets or something with info on how to treat introverted people.

You're right. Talking on phones is more awkward than real life conversations. :S

I know, like you don't really know what to say, it depends because everyone is different so the person has no right to get mad
