I just read chapters 1&2 and I'm really enjoying this so far! You're really good at laying out the story and making it look visually interesting as well as having an exciting plot ^^
NPR is National Public Radio. I really like this one show they do, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. It's a quiz show about news, and sometimes it's funny, and sometimes it's just dumb, but it's diverting without being distracting, so it's perfect to listen to while I'm working on the comic. I used to listen to it on the weekends when it airs, but we don't get good radio reception anymore so I download recordings of the show on itunes.
I'm so glad you like it!
How do I have the patience, you say? Well, usually I draw this while I'm supposed to be doing something else, so I'm motivated to draw every single brick and wire to avoid, say, doing my laundry or going to the bank. Actually, drawing a page really is super tedious. You've got to lay it out, then pencil in all the panels, check references to make sure everything looks like actual architecture and not just wonky lego blocks, then go over everything with pen, erase the pencil, then put in details. It's wicked boring, the only way I can make myself do it is to pair it with something equally mindless, so I listen to NPR podcasts while I draw. I like to listen to this show Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, but it's so silly I feel like I have to do something else while I listen to it or I feel like I'm wasting my time, so I draw and listen to NPR on my broken-down ipod nano. It's weird and a bit depressing, but it works
the amount of details in every page just blows my mind! O_o seriously how do have all that patience? I love the story very much, it makes me want to continue reading to know what happen next, I like it a lot!
I really did enjoyed reading this and I really like the art style and your story telling its good. I can see pass the anatomy and some of the drawing technical error because its such a great style. Keep it up
Ono, those thumbs! Thumbs and toes always just destroy me, I don't know why :) My anatomy's definitely a bit dodgy, it's something I'm trying to work on. And the speech bubbles on page 18 are definitely set up weird, not sure what happened there. I'm so glad you thought the pacing and backgrounds are good, I'm always worried I'm doing those badly.
Answering your questions: I don't have an ending planned exactly. It's hard to explain. I've had ideas for this comic in my mind for over a year, but I wasn't satisfied with any of the storylines or scripts I wrote for it, so rather than try to plan it out first I decided to just draw it. So I'm basically making it up from page to page. I've got an idea of where the story is going and I've got months and months of plot ideas to work with in my head, but other than that I've got no idea where the story is going, I'm just letting it take its course. This chapter was drawn between May and July 2012 and each page took me about a day to draw. I draw everything out very loosely in pencil first then go in to fill out details with a gel pen.
Thank you so much for taking time to read my story. It’s a big help and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
I know you said you wanted some feedback, so here you go.
The good: Backgrounds! You're really good at setting the scene. Panels without dialogue are just as important as those with it, and it looks like you understand that. Good pacing, too.
In the case of text, you have very clear handwriting. It's also good that you included sound effects. Those can be overlooked, but I'm glad you didn't.
The parts to work on: Although the characters are very distinct, the anatomy is a bit amateur-ish. Pay attention to hands to make sure the thumb is on the correct side.
Also on page 18, there are two dialogue bubbles in the first panel, and I'm not sure which one comes first. My instinct was to start at the top and work my way down, but it seems that you wanted to go left to right. It would make sense to go on a diagonal in the direction that the reader is, well, reading. The first bubble should be at the top left and the second should be at the bottom right.
I hope that wasn't too harsh or picky or anything. What you have is a good start to your story. I hope you continue it.
Now come the questions just to satisfy my own curiosity. Do you have an ending planned? Did you draw this freehand just using a pen? How long did this chapter take you?
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!

I'm glad you like it! It's not terrible, but I was never 100% satisfied with it. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, I guess

I just read part 2! ^^
I noticed that you have some layout issues. Have you ever done thumbnail sketches? I bet they'd help a lot with your speech bubble placement.
