I took your advice and read it on the other site to where you left off. This manga is AWESOME! I can feel the authenticity of it from your research. It comes alive!!
To Cezieni-
Yup, I did draw some backgrounds with markers or sumi, while others I used one of my photos & photoshoped it. I learned that technique in my photography class. Yeah, I know that I didn't use any perspective in the last panel pg.3 ^^; I was going for the Alfred Hitchcock look when he distorts reality when recalling a bad memory, but I'll work on perspective. =)

it took me about 5 to bild up my story and tie up loose ends[didnt have to do much resurch cause i made up my own place]
your art is realy great so far i love the horse/dragon he is riding!
The art style reminds me a little bit of Okami. Especially the backgrounds. The details on the stuff in the foreground are pretty awesome, too.
However, sometimes it looks like you drew the stuff in the foreground, made a background in photoshop, and then just pasted the foreground stuff on. The first page and the last panel of the second page really give this impression. Also, the last panel of the second page ignores perspective almost completely. Work on that stuff.
Other than that it's pretty much flawless and I hope to see more in the future.

Quite impressive. You really know your history and language and what not. I'm a big fin of Japanese myself so I look forward to reading more.
Also, I'm thinking your guess about the zanpakutou is probably right. I've had similar thoughts myself.
