Ever heard of Brandon Sanderson? Well, if you haven't, he's a super genius. You should go and read all his books (I admit, I haven't read his youth stuff...but everything I have read has been delicious).

So, go and read his stuff:
Stand Alones
1) Warbreaker. It's even available for free!
2) Elantris.
Trilogy
1) Mistborn (and there's the added bonus of a book set in that universe, but it's not pertinent to the storyline).
Ongoing Series
1) Stormlight Archive.

Aaaand then a bunch more. It's getting tedious linking all of these. They're all under his website, though.

First, read Warbreaker. That will let you know if you like him as an author. If you do, go immediately into the Stormlight Archive. There are only two books out so far (granted, they're monsters), so you can read all the others while waiting for the next one to come out. :)
