In the reference that I used, he had this really determined face, but I wanted to draw him smiling instead. And I also stuck Boota the mole... thing... on his shoulder, because I could. If I remember correctly, I sketched Simon surprisingly quickly, especially, since I rarely ever draw knees that aren't covered by pants.
