So yes. Introducing Stefan, Tomato's cocky and self-conscious yet easily upset manager. More will be revealed about him in the comic, but you can read his character profile if you want. (Contains spoilers. Of some sort.)

Q: What does Stefan mean when he says "I didn't hire you"?
A: He didn't hire Tomato, Stefan's boss hired Tomato and Stefan was assigned as Tomato's manager. This shows how Tomato doesn't know much about his own job, even though he's had the job for 4 years.

I don't like explaining jokes...
