DUDE I agree. I have the wii and the only fun games it seems are those party games when no one knows how the heck to play a game. The wii has turned into the gamecube and is now kiddie central where they release spongebob dora the explorer and so on. There might be about 5 worthy games for the wii and that's about it. The graphics aren't that great okay.unless the person who makes the game MAKES the graphics wonderful. And I totally agree with the the anticipating a game to come out and then its a failure. I was SO HYPED for tales of symphonia 2 to come out and was disappointed. It like mocked the first was laughed in it's face. It was so poorly made and the graphics weren't good they took out the COOL anime cute scenes and they didn't allow wandering the map and it was very repitive. I guess it's back to the xbox!

I really enjoyed your article. I was a little confused as to why you were calling it a brief history when you wrote more of a commentary on the demographics wii was attracting and why you had problems with it. But I generally agree with you on all your points.
If you're looking for something on Wii that's more Hardcore, try No More Heroes if you haven't already. That's a keeper. The only good 3rd party game I've found I've liked.
i actually really like the wii, and i don't see why everyone is so upset that it's doing well (tho i can see that ur not one of those crazy people). honestly, so what if alot of it's games are a bit immature? nintendo hasn't been known for its "serious" games if you will. i mean, the most serious game that i've seen that has been mainstream has been the zelda series (which is a wonderful series, might i add, it was the whole reason i bought the wii) but i've found people love games like animal crossing, any pokemon game, mario, and SSB! not to mention that the Tales series, Tales of Symphonia 2 was released on it, which is a serious game, and Tales of Heart to my knowledge is going to be released on the wii. and there was Fire Emblem was also released for the wii, another "serious" game if you will. i think what makes ppl mad, is the fact the wii has introduced people that aren't hard core gamers into video games! i'll admit i laugh at "wii-fit", but i mean, is it really that bad to play video games with ur folks once in a while? hell, my dad and i play SSB all the time.
so i guess to sum up that ridculously long paragraph of mine, i think the wii is great, it's fun and the only downplay i have on it is it still has N-64 graphics (for some games, twilight princess had EPIC graphics that made me drool over my controller as i stared at Link) but all and all it's a great system.
(PS3 and 360 are just mad cause the wii has been doing better than both of them combined.)
Nice, i love the brutal honesty, the funny thing and slightly ironic thing is im using my wii to write this mesage! But there is a lack of "Hard Core" games out there and i'd love to see a resident evil or gory shooter game. We'll just have to wait and see! [^_^]

Very nice. Sadly, also very accurate. This sort of thing is really depressing, but Nintendo aren't helping. They know where the money is, so they keep pushing Wii Fit, Wii Music... shallow games with deep pockets.
One glaring omission to this list is No More Heroes, probably the most "hardcore" game on the Wii. If you haven't played it yet, I know you would like it. There's an obscene amount of blood and plenty of eye-candy, plus the main character is a complete otaku. If nothing else, the game has a great sense of humor, but the gameplay is incredibly fun, too. Recommended to anyone with a Wii.
I can agree, I LOVE my little white box, but it does lack in the 1P area. as far as wii-remote abuse, I've experianced that too, with a game-shapped epic fail called "Wing Island" the initial concept of using the wiimote to control an aircraft was really interesting, especially since I love planes/aviation - but never did I ever expect them to get it so WRONG DX it didn't even feel like a real plane! it was aweful, and frankly, I couldn't understand how they could have gotten so wrong, I couldn't see how they actually could pass that off and get it past the testers! @_@
but I still love my wii, and the games I'm gathering for it.
Nice little article/rant. Its true, I find most of the points you brought up (my uncle refuses to ackknowledge the Wii, and my dad bashes it from time to time because of graphics, which I'm surprised you didn't bring up), apply to many people I know. Another annoying thing about it is that some games go multi platform, but they are toned down on the Wii, and since alot of casual people seem to be graphics oriented, they decline to buy them. I saw some pics for Arc Rise Fantasia today, and it looks laright, although I'm kinda dissapointed they didn't do anything with motion sensitivity (for special moves and the like).

@red tigress:
Yeah, the title was more or less a random choice. I was actually just ripping off "A Brief History of Time". Not well though, lol.
I'd rather see in shades of gray.
