the trolls told me it was closed due to aids. silly trolls.
either way i just walked up to a cluster of people wondering what the heck happened....
though the best part was when people were allowed back in and the police people in the convention had the most horrified expressions to waves of otakus flying in... it was gold
Oh God, that sucks. I would've been mad beyond belief if that happened to me. I'm glad they extended the hours, though, and it sounds like the otaku made the best of the situation.
That alarm made me so sad! I was waiting in line for the Home Made Kazoku autograph session, and it was cancelled when we FINALLY were allowed back in. I really hope it was just as accident, and no one did that kind of thing on purpose… (Home Made’s concert was AWESOME on Sunday by the way!)
My friend's theory is that whoever pulled the alarm was trying to get Yoshiki and Sugizo to come out. My theory is they're just an idiot (or a group of idiots, if it's more than one person). God, I'm sooo glad no one tried this crap at Momo con this year (or last year).
I was there, and oh boy that was some evacuation. It seemed like it took forever for the convention to get back up and running afterwards. Just glad no one was hurt.
I was in Artist Alley when it happened. The room went dead silent when that announcement came over the PA system. It was insane. Then that damn fire exit just had to have a foot of water in front of it and got my socks soaking wet. Ugh..
OMG! I was there! I was sitting, waiting for the premier of Hetalia when all of the sudden, the fire alarms went off! It was crazy! But sort of fun at the same time! I bunch of us started game of Marco Polo on the street! It was great! ^^

I got to experience it first hand. I had been waiting in line for the Hetalia premiere for about an hour. We finally got into the room when the fire alarm went off. They told us to evacuate the room, and then the whole building. There was about 30,000 otaku standing on the streets of Baltimore. They kept telling us to get further and further away from the building. People were fairly nice about it though. A sing-along was started, where we sang theme songs (specifically Pokemon and Sailor Moon). Besides the heat, it was still fun. An experience I will definitely never forget.
And if we knew who it was that pulled the trick, he would have been mobbed. Big time.
This is a hater/RL troll's masterpiece *___*
Sucks for all those people though, luckily around here, in the buildings where conventions are held at, the fire alarms have thick glass or don't exist at all XD Should I be happy or worried, I dunno.

Why do people hate us otaku so? And why are they treated with suspicion in Japan, like minorities in America? It's not our fault people have an unreazonable hatred toward us.
Anime Central: Chicago 2008, somebody, or a group of people decided it would be funny to DDOS the registration computers. I, along with a few hundred other people were stuck in line for well over 6 hours(7.5 for me).

Heard about this from several people on Twitter. Probably too late now, unless the person was somehow captured on camera, but hopefully the jerk who pulled the alarm is caught.

Wow... the one year I don't go too. Well, I guess trying to figure out the new panel times would have been a pain, especially since today was Masquerade day. :/

I'd laugh if it turned out that someone's costume got caught on an alarm or something.

One more reason why hotels and convention centers hate us. ._.
