You know what just occurred to me? This is a grand and tremendous irony.
The line isn't meant to be romantic-sounding. The context of the scene it came from made it clear that Ed was saying something incredibly nerdy and awkward in order to voice feelings he had no idea how to communicate. If anything, it was endearing because it was so adorkable. It wasn't very coherent or suave, but it was sincere and that's what was so great about it.
Now it occurs to me that all the positive qualities of the quote are lost if it's used by a non-alchemist (read: someone from this Universe's planet Earth). For it to be voted as the most romantic proposal is funny, because it's not supposed to be romantic at all.
Well. The lines of Ed are perfectly perfect and romantic and beautiful, but really. What was that person thinking? "Oh! I know! I am going to take Edward Elric, a very popular character from a very popular series, words and no one will EVER notice!!! I AM SO BRILLIANT."
... I need say no more...
I'm glad that line is awesome enough to win a contest and I'm even happier that it was actually removed. Usually it takes a lot of time and it's nerve wrecking to prove copyright.
I hate it when people try to get away with that sort of stuff! Although it may be a really sweet line for a proposal I don't think it is the most romantic any way. But trying to get away with that crap is wrong. Why couldn't this person think of soemthing original? Use their MIND for crying out loud!
Beautiful words from an awesome confession but I find it kinda annoying that a someone decided to use another person's words. I mean, where's the originality in that? What a loser...
"Oh yeah, I'll definitely never get caught using an iconic phrase from an extremely popular series, particularly if the chapter it comes from had to be printed in two separate issues of the magazine it appears in because the demand drastically outstripped the supply!"
I loved when Ed said that line to Winry. Good for them for disqualifying the contestant. He got what was coming to him. And I agree with wallpaperotaku.. they're are indeed beautiful, but they didn't think of them.

Well technically they were an example of beautiful romantic words, but they were just not original. I want to guess that it wasn't intentional, that the person just didn't read the rules carefully enough......
I wonder who the real winner was!

FFFFFfff, thanks for the spoiler, dude. =_=;
I've been trying my hardest to NOT ruin FMA like I did with Naruto... buying the manga only, instead of reading ahead online... TT^TT
Oh well...
I remember seeing this newsflash on AnimeNews or something, like that. XD
Damn...
And, then... I met you.

They seriously couldn't see how unoriginal the saying was? It's kinda obvious that it has been used before many a times in several works.

Isn't it 'plagiarize?'
Anyway...you can never get away with plagiarizing...the truth'll be out sooner or later.
