I think you're right. It's not like she did this intentionally, and now she'll have to live the rest of her life feeling guilty. I think that is punishment enough.
Hey, so can we all back off on the other driver here? Sure, she's responsible for the loss of a human life, but that's just it. She screwed up, she killed someone and she has to live with that fact for the rest of her life. And I guarantee they already know who it is. No one walks away from a car crash that results in a fatality. Seriously, she doesn't need any more grief. She screwed up big time and she'll have to spend her entire life knowing that. Add that to the inevitable prison sentence and I think that's punishment enough.
As for Mr. Wood, he truly did an admirable thing and I hope he's remembered well for it.

I hope their baby lives on. And I also hope they grow up knowing that their dad was a fine hero, even though it was because of a dumb person in the other car.
Won't lie. I totally started crying as I started typing up this nugget. Guy lived in North Vancouver, just half an hour up from where I live - just another detail that makes this hit home with me all the more.
Hell, even just thinking about this makes me wanna well up right now . . .

may his child learn of him, remeber him, and cherish him for what he did and for all the love he showed.
hero is not an apropriate title. he is much more than that.
may he reat in peace and look down from above to gard over his family even after death. may the driver repent of what he did.
This sacrifice could of easily been avoided if the driver of the other car had not been distracted. I've seen it too many times before, countless lives lost just to receive a text or in this case, remove clothing. Do people realize that by trying to make their selves more comfortable at the sacrifice of paying attention to the road that they are causing countless years of pain and suffering to those who they hurt by not paying attention?!
My message to those here on theotaku.com,
He was definitely a hero. It's very sad he died and I'm glad he was able to save his family. There aren't a lot of people as selfless as he was in this world.
Aw...so brave. What an amzing thing to do...I have nothing to saw that can even come close to making up for the loss. I'll always respect him and the sacrifice he made for his family.

What an example of selflessness in such an extreme situation. I really do hope his child is born healthy.

Very, very brave. He definately deserves the title: "Hero". Taking his own life for his child and wife...I'm at a loss of words as well.
