When I first learned about the first donation by "Tiger Mask" back in Christmas Day, I was touched. And after learning how this grew into a movement of anonymous donations in Japan, I was even more touched. You even have people here giving out whatever they had with them to others. It's just a wonderful thing to see.
The people here are mostly donating under the names of the characters. There's only been one reported case of a cosplayer actually showing up, and that was a Tiger Mask cosplay.
I think I understand where you're coming from, though.

Charitable giving is nice and all, but I thought it's ironic that Lupin III (a character who stars in Adult-targeting Anime) is one of the characters mentioned in this article. I've heard of actors cosplaying Spider-Man and Superman while making guest appearances at a kid's birthday party, but never about someone donating to kids dressing up like somebody from an Anime that's not for the kiddies. There's something you don't hear off everyday, but the giving to charity is still nice and the character cosplaying still remain fun.

This has been the most heartwarming story. I've been following it on ANN, and just... ugh, always gives me the warm fuzzies.
