I want to add a suggestion; about the challenge portal. Whenever there is new challenge (A) and is just up for a few minutes, then another new one (B) comes, that A challenge is hardly been promoted around the members (since not many will hit the challenge button to see if there's a challenge they missed). Perhaps you can make a corner for the challenges for the latest 5 at least?

Oh, I thought I was in the wrong site when I logged in. Well, to be blunt, I don't like the new main page, the news font is too big, it's dominating the whole page. I'm fine with the previous page, I think it's better. I'm sorry, maybe I don't have the right to comment like this because I'm not an active member.

I agree with most of the people that commented previously... I honestly liked the old front page, and I back then, I did click on the 4 featured art for most sections. And, just as some people said already, everything seems so... big. >n<

I'm sorry if this sounds bitchy and/or repetitive, but I dislike the new layout. I will agree that this is a bit cleaner, but the old layout wasn't as cluttered as some people seem to think. Besides, with the old layout you could actually see some of the art on this site. I mean, isn't that the point: The art? No offense, but if I cared that much about the news I'd go somewhere like ANN. (That's my two cents, feel free to ignore it.)

after reading through all the comments, i must agree with a lot of people...I am finding it a lot different! ^^' i do have to say i was startled at first seeing this...but I am sure i'll get used to it...i agree that I don't like the layout with the news first, but who knows, maybe it'll get me to read the news more! *laughs* I am looking foreward to seeing how it will progress from here, and thanks for all the time and effort you put into this site! :D

What I dislike and think could change:

• A few less news links would help; it's starting to dominate the page.

• I like being able to read a line of the news before clicking on it, it made me more interested.
• Like most people, I dislike the four big buttons on the bottom half of the page. It's over simplified and I miss being able to log on a instantly see the most popular artwork, wallpapers, etc.

What I do like:

• I do like the different layout for the news; the way it's aligned with the icons and comments (Linking the front page with the Caption Battle page is an awesome idea).

Well that's much better than earlier today! I could live with that format.

lol well I'm along for the ride. Looking for things for now,but I'm sure it will be a work in progress for a while.

Not a big fan. D: I loved the four thumbnails for the most active arts, and I was one of those people who clicked on every single one of them. Also, I don't like the news being so big. I can understand how much time and effort went into upgrading this, so kudos to you for trying to improve the site! ^^

This layout should have been developed more. It's way too rough and doesn't showcase what this site has to offer. (The last layout was really good.)

Some ideas:
-Less news and updates on the main page.(Don't put it in big fonts either. It looks unprofessional and harder to read IMHO.)

-http://imgur.com/yuojI (Idea for layout. Slightly similar to last one but put more focus on the updates. Be able to comment from front page by clicking the comment section like the site has now.)

-The scrolling/blocking the page caused by the feature needs to be fixed. It's annoying and looks cluttered. Something that would allow the user to see a scaled down size that they could click on to get to the original page. (Keep it centered up top above the rest of the submissions.) Maybe try to give reasons why it is featured.

Haha...I gotta say, it's funny that everyone is going "I don't like the news being the first thing you see! D:" I would go into one of my "back in the oldem days" rants, but then that would make me look old.

Wow... When I first saw theO's new front page I was like 'Where did all the art go?!D:' cause I only saw the news. Also, I had trouble finding a 'comment' button - since apparently it's just a little number now._. And like many others, I don't really like the fact that there's only one big thumbnail for each fandom - I liked that you could see the 4 most active pieces for each section in nice and small thumbnails on the previous front page!:3 Plus the fact that they weren't all square... Cause that only works for e-cards. And like TC said, the white space could use a little more... colourXD
I would also like to say though, that I do appreciate how much time and effort went into this and it's great that you work so hard to keep theO up to date!^^ So keep up the hard work:)

I'm with everyone else, in that I dont like the new format. The news is much too spread out, and I don't like how the comments are set up either. (I couldn't even find them at first) I like that the art on the main page is random now, but not that only one work is shown. If the art is random to give more people a chance to be seen, then limiting it to one work seems to deafeat that purpose...

Sorry, just my personal opinion...

I don't like it, the previous design is much better. The news taking most of the main page, people would think this site is for news, not arts. And The big 4 thumbnails there are just too plain, I prefer the 4 thumbnails for each section.

I was rather startled but it's a nice new update of the site. What I don't like, however is the fact that the top 4 wallpapers/comics/etc aren't displayed anymore. It was rather handy, especially for reading CHACK to get it right from the front page.
I'm sure I'll grow used to that though.

<- What I would like to rant about is the sheer size of everything, though. I mean, I have a rather big screen but when I got on, all I could see were news articles and, since I do read them at times but they're not exactly the reason I get on (this is only my opinion) theO I was kinda unpleasantly surprised.

I liked the idea of the 4 thumbnails for each categories. It was like there was a lot of nice arts here. Now, there's just 4 huge and not really aesthetic cases... Nope, I really don't like it.
If I liked what you changed for each categories, that new main page really lack of beauty. Honestly, it's simplier but I'm totally confused... I think it's just too big.
The former main page was really perfect, everything has the right size...

But it's just my point of view, hope you don't mind... =)

my only issue is with how you have the thumbnails for the art/cards ect. It's ok for wallies and art...but for comics and cards it makes it hard to see what is going on. and when you click it....it takes you to the wallpaper page/ comic page...so you have to search for the wallie or match up the chunck of comic you saw. :/

I liked the previous design better, though I have no problems with the new design for the other sections (Wallpapers, fanarts, etc). It's odd and a bit overwhelming to see the Anime News section taking up the most of the home page.

Well anyway...it's just my opinion...x]. I look forward to more development in the future :D.

Hm for me, the old main page is better. This new page is like.. full of news. Also, zooming cards dropped the quality. I prefer four thumbnails for each category in the main page.

I'm with Kat. It's frustrating not having any more links to stuff on the Official World, like Caption Battle and Podcast, and the single big images for the categories.

This style might work, but it needs some more spice added to the look of the main page. More color, less sterile white.

I actually find this interface to be rather clunky, now that it's working properly. I agree that the four giant thumbnails are a bit tacky and very in-your-face, not to mention that a square is not the best shape for graphics. Most arts and all walls are done in horizontal (or vertical) formats. It's why art teachers love projects done in squares, it's a challenge. Forcing them to be in a square is just odd.

I really liked the four thumbnails, as it gave you an idea of what was kind of the hit for the day and such. Come to think of it, the image being random every hour isn't all that great. What if "your" hour is 5am?

Where are the site updates? I can't find links to the podcast or caption battle, just news stuff. Also, shouldn't all the news stories be on the news page? Why do you have to click to an individual article about the story? That's a bit cumbersome.

I understand the need to alter, but if the main page is going to change this much, you might as well completely revamp all of it. It seems very random, unorganized, and awkward right now.

The sudden appearance of a new front page has given me whiplash.

Yeah...ehh. I'm not liking it so much. :/ I always clicked on the small thumbnails on the old main page. ^^; It showed more people's stuff off, having the top 4 (or was it 5?)...but now it's just one. And it doesn't make the items it's showing look quality (ecards especially), and it doesn't always focus on the main part of the image either! ^^; Uh, but yeah. I also agree with those saying it would increase competition...

Personally I loved the old layout better because it gave me an idea of different things and this only really catches 4 giant pictures that don't appear to be in the best quality at this size. Regardless of random, this size makes some pictures look pixelated or it a black screen....PLUS you had quizes on the main page too.

I like where you are going but combine the two. I think that would be better is all...*shrugs*

I agree with DixieWings on the viewing. Having only one thumbnail for each category might also make people more competitive. Let's face it: a lot of us would love to have our work on the front page. At least with four thumbnails, there were more chances.

The main thing I check for on the main page (besides eye-catching art and cards) is the Caption battle update. It seems like it's more likely to be bumped this way, although we could always go searching *shrugs*

i never really noticed any trouble with the previous look. everything was nice and separated, felt easier to keep track of multiple things with it organized in that way. This new one seems more.... bulged or something, i cant really find the right word for it. i know its new so i probably shouldnt jump to conclusions on it yet, but i was rather fond of hte previous look.

I'm surprised that people weren't clicking the front page thumbnails though. I... thought I did it often enough. I kinda miss not having more options on the front now, but if we're only going to have one featured I think it should be the most popular (even if I've been a big proponent of newbie coverage.) Or maybe make it a hand-picked feature like what we had on the side for a while?

Woooah...is it a Firefox 4 Beta thing, or does the front page REALLY look like this? I am so confused right now...

The direction the front page is headed is nice, but I preferred the old viewing system where there were four thumbnails for each main category. It made it nice to go on the website each day and easy to see what was new :D
Either way, I can't wait to see how theOtaku continues to develop <3
