Brain waves ehh? A little more development and it would be the cutest polygraph machine ever.
People wearing their hearts on their heads.
I guess tails have to wait for a bluetooth link or the ability to read butt waves, you know whatever's easier.
Ah, I see. Well, it seems to have paid off, though I was surprised that there were more "down-ear" motions toward the front of the video... maybe they were camera shy or something? :/
I imagine the core issue was one of matching wave strength to temperament. I mean, Brainball only senses the strength of the brain's activity to create the appropriate force to propel the ball away. Since a cat's ears closely reflect its mood—the obvious up-for-happy and down-for-sad, along with several other positions based on mood and interest level—in order to make decently convincing ears you'd have to do several studies on which brain patterns match what mood, or what happens when a person's attention is suddenly arrested, and so on.

Did you see that one guy's eyebrows near the beginning of the video (the older guy with the sunglasses starting at 1:18)? XDD
But yeah, considering that brainwave-reading technology has been around for a bit, it's a little surprising that we're seeing this now. Then again, it also depends on when someone thought, "hey, why not make kitty ears with this technology?" I'd also have to wonder what made them put the two ideas together.
If they could somehow perfect the brain-wave readers and get Volks-like dolls made with microrobotics to work in conjunction with that, we'd have real life Angelic Layer :D But that's probably years away as it is.
Interesting. I've always wondered what brain wave technology was up to ever since I read the story about Dream TVs on theO. It's a small step but a step nonetheless.
Kinda freaky, but still cool as far as them moving on their own. I don't know if I can believe the whole brain wave thing. Like Sunhollow said, it looks like it's just doing random movements. Also, they look a little too big in proportion to the person's head. =/

Do want. And true, it took them forever to get these made. Too long, Japan, too long.

Interesting concept, but the "sensing brainwaves" is a hard sell for me. Also, the ears themselves are not all that attractive.
