True. In hindsight, "The Greatest Anime Character" isn't something that can be easily decided. Especially with all the possible nerd rage riots that could ensue. Not sure what a better title would be, but making this a contest between classic characters and their modern counterparts seems like a better option to me. And I haven't been reading the comments. Some are pretty long for my attention span.
Aw, come on guys, we can't blame Adam. He is using member votes, so while the survey might have been better named (for example, fan girls vs fans who have seen more than twenty anime series), it isn't his fault the results are what they are.
Besides, Adam deserves credit for bringing theOtaku community together like this. When was the last time the comment section had over 100 posts this hilarious?
I hate my generation, almost nobody shows love for the old anime.We must overthrow Adam so characters that are worthy of the title "Greatest Anime Character" ae given a shot at the title, like Astro Boy.

As far as this whole character ranking thing goes, Sailor Moon beating Sebastian doesn't make up for the absolutely rigged battles elsewhere. And frankly, Sebastian doesn't belong anywhere; that show was dumb and only serves a purpose for loli-shota yaoi fangirls.

Kenshin was my big vote <3 What do the character's win? XD We could have a month where only "BEST ANIME CHARACTER OF ALL TIME" fan work is accepted on the site... or not.
Agreed, expensive CGI is pleasing to the eye, but should not be a movie's only positive quality.
Kenshin's defeat over L is more than likely a sign of the times. If the category subscriptions in the site is any indication, I tend to receive almost daily updates on Death Note works and posts in the site, a lot of which involves L. Rurouni Kenshin, on the other hand, only gets occasional updates.
Its is an interesting question. Of course, I'm only speculating, mainly based on the results of this whole Greatest Anime Character voting thing. Maybe we should join forces and create a survey of everyone on the site to find out. Do some research. :)
@Katana -
I never thought of it in terms of 'waves,' but now that I am, it makes a lot of sense. Sailor Moon was my gateway drug, but friends only a few years younger remember Pokemon as their first. I didn't watch much Pokemon on tv because by the time it aired, I was 'too cool' for it. (Says the girl who's getting a Mokona tattoo)
@Time Chaser -
Agreed. It's surprising though - with websites like crunchyroll, netflix, hulu and YouTube, it is easier than ever to watch a variety of anime. So why wouldn't they gobble it up?
You and I are about the same age, so our perspective on anime is different to that of younger people, who seem to make up a large portion of the site's population. We have more experience with a wider range of anime, whereas it seems a lot of kids now fixate on what's popular.
It's a weird thing that also depends on which "wave" of anime you came in on. I'm 19 but observe the differences with friends just a year or two younger than me because they got into it at a significantly later time. For me, Sailor Moon was one of my earliest endeavors, if not the first that I saw.
I also think TC and I should keep up having almost-the-same-but-not-quite icons because it's fun that way.
@Katana - Even I got confused reading last weeks comments with the similar icons lol.
I completely agree that this survey highlights the age gap on this site. While I find it frustrating, I also think it's kind of funny...
I'm a 4-H leader (4-H is a youth development program) for an anime/manga club. We basically use anime to glimpse into Japanese culture - cuisine, schools, fashion, etc. The kids are mostly 14-18 yrs old. They love xxxholic and Code Geass, but most don't know CardCaptor Sakura (let alone Magic Knight Rayearth, X, Angelic Layer, and the rest of CLAMP's repertoire). It makes me feel old...
Well, a reasonable time for you US people cuts into my workday, so if I'm doing a solo show I do a reasonable time for me and let people who want to listen get up early :-)

You may have counted a comment from Kat since we have very similar icons. But hey, I figured since I wouldn't be on this week, it was OK to spam the comment box. :P
Not sure if I'll be in Movie Sign now, more interested in spending time with visiting family.
I think Adam was halfway out his door on his trip to Vegas when he remembered to do the Sailor Moon/Sesshomaru battle and just wasn't paying much attention.
I had no idea you were going to record these shows so early this time. Or did you decide to record early since I wasn't around? I haven't checked my email...
"8...9...8..." TC and I have had similar icons for the past week, so I wonder if we tripped you up...
I think a big issue (so to speak) with this "greatest anime character
evar" thing is the age gaps you're seeing with members of the site. Going through the Sailor Moon versus Sebastian comments revealed this greatly - the fangirl support for him coupled with "I never watched Sailor Moon" is a bit despairing. (Good news, it was a goof, and Sailor Moon did win.) And L beat Kenshin? Man, my soul just cried.
