Well, if I gave up on watching the anime of Naruto (or Bleach) a while ago, I liked the movies, though, as for Bleach, the design is always better than the anime and the plot sort of interesting so, why not? But I won't go to theaters to see it, even if I was living in NYC XD
Considering the fact that the existence or continuance of the anime does not affect the health or sanity of anime fans, dropping the disagreement would be the intelligent thing to do.
You like the anime? Watch the movie.
You dislike the anime? Don't watch the movie.
You want to talk about the movie? Do it civilly.
The end.

Honestly... Whats eating your buzz? Mainstream, smallstream, bigstream, whateverstream... We all end up watching it anyway. so quit complaining because that aint gona change the producers mind. We are all anime fans and we like what we like... that doesn't mean we should make other fans feel bad because we feel that what we know is right. so let us drop this silly bickering...and allow some Naruto fans to enjoy and share the excitement of the new movie.
You can tell it's coming to it's close...So be happy.
Some other anime will just take it's place being mainstream and then you can complain about that.
Thanks for posting the definitions. And I can't argue with the money thing, but if the fans buy it...who's to stop them? It's like that with anything here in America.
Although 'otaku' can be used as an insult in Japan, it's not used as an insult outside of Japan. Thus people pridefully claim to be otaku's of this and that. 'Weeaboo' on the other hand is used as an insult outside of Japan, which is why people get all "butt-hurt" when referred to as such. I really didn't mean to jump into this little battle, I just felt like I should point that out~ ;D Between us, I actually agree with everything you said about it being about money and such.
"Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead."
Otaku (おたく/オタク) is a modern Japanese slang that refers to people with obsessive interests in specialized subcultures and hobbies, particularly in regard to anime, manga, pop idols and video games. In English, it is usually used to refer to an obsessive fan of anime/manga and/or Japanese culture generally, and to a lesser extent Japanese video games.
Weeaboo (a.k.a Wapanese) is an English slang used to describe a person (typically of non-Asian descent) who prefers Japan and all things in Japanese over one’s indigenous culture. The term is a successive mutation of “Wapanese,” a derogatory slur referring to western Japanophiles with a strong bias towards Japanese cultural and tech imports.
There is a difference, just sayin'.

I don't enjoy the term Otaku either. But of course that is the name of this site. I did not understand the term until I was much older. People generally do not like being insulted.
Yes. Freedom of speech is allowed unless it is Libel. And you're edging on libel speech by your choice of diction.

I'm not hating on your opinion. It's fine to have one and I see your point. NO one likes fillers. But when you have a long ongoing series you have to have fillers in order to let the manga be ahead while pleasing the fans with more anime. Detective Conan has been going on longer than Naruto and has SO many fillers...But it's because the author comes out with a chapter a week and the animators want to have an episode a week and an episode is 2 or 3 chapters in one episode.
My main reason for commenting on your dislike of Naruto was because of how you said it. It's rude. It's one thing to have an opinion. It's another to be rude and mean. weeaboos is not a nice way to describe people. In fact it's hurtful. You can express you dislike of Naruto all you want but just be more pleasant about it.
There are differences and reasons why there are mainstream and shorter animes and fans know which one to pick and watch.
There will always be balance between those and how they come out, both of them can't go without each other.
I used to be really into Naruto, but it's become way to much to keep up with and I'm really just...tired of seeing it. I was never into any of the other series you mentioned. I'm an oldskooler myself. There is a ton of really good series that don't get enough exposure.

Some people like Naruto because they like the...OMG PLOT....or the OMG CHARACTERS...
Not because it's mainstream. It's nice that it is so mainstream because it gives us easy access. And most of us Naruto fans love non-mainstream animes too.

Complaining is just one of the things us otakus do best, besides overly obsessing over one anime in particular for, who knows how long. :)

I guess if you had to judge the movie visual wise, the art is pleasing to see but I can't really compliment the series anymore than that.

If only it would end. I'm so tired of Naruto. They just keep finding more and more ways to drag on this poor series.
As for the movie, I applaud anyone who attends. It takes a lot to stick with a series composed of mostly fillers.
I would just attend to get the free stuff and sell it on ebay for a quick buck.
