I guess I'll let you off the hook this time TimeChaser since you haven't actually read the books.
I didn't know that they take down the Christmas decorations after Christmas Eve. :( It kind of defeats the whole purpose of decorating for Christmas if the decorations are gone on Christmas Day. I guess they get a free pass though since they don't actually celebrate the holiday.
@The Mask: I believe they have the Bon Festival to honor the dead. I'm sure Ichigo can give a better explanation of it than I can.
So Timechaser, you're more 'Slayers'-type sword and sorcery or Lord of the Rings stuff?
It drives me insane to see decorations and whatnot in the stores before one holiday is fairly over. What about those of us that're really into Thanksgiving and not ready for all the Santa stuff yet?
I knew TimeChaser was an integral part of the team. That "WELCOME TO OUR CLUB" thing was kind of a Spongebob reference. Laugh dammit! In all seriousness, cool bean to TC for being here so long. I'm learning a lot more about members than I ever have before! Also, I agree with The Mask on the recent energy crisis. It should be interesting to see what they do as Japan has some really beautiful light scenes during the winter months.
I guess it would be understandable if they don't celebrate Christmas like other countries do, since majority of them are not Christians. And if take away all the commercialism attached with it, Christmas is still a Christian holiday. I guess the same thing applies to Halloween, which is definitely more of a Western holiday that happens to be related to the holiday commemorating the day of the dead. Speaking of which, when and how do they actually celebrate the "day of the dead" or any similar holiday, if ever there is?
Now that it's November already, I wonder if there would be that much illumination in Japan, considering the energy crisis that they are currently having.
And I'd like to ask Ichigo. Would you prefer to have Christmas celebrated in a short period of time (like how you described it in Japan) or would you prefer to see it celebrated from September to December (or the "-ber" months)?
