I will be impressed when I see on the news that they are considering A Bleach Live action Moivie... and hey better use actors that actually look like the characters they are to portray lol :P
lives in hope for a Bleach live action movie
this Akira movie is starting to sound good though x x
I wonder if Kristen will be able to play a role without sounding like a robot throughout it though.... I hate all the gaps in sentences'
Oh, I certainly agree that one actor/actress doesn't make the movie. I'm also not basing my assessment of Kristen Stewart's skill solely on her role in the Twilight films. Bella is an all-around weak character, an artifact of poor writing no actress could overcome. Stewart herself has said she dislikes Twilight. Maybe that's why her acting is so lackluster?
Without getting into a big discussion, I do see your point. But I also think when so much acting is reacting to other actors, a weak player can kill a scene.
I don't entirely agree with that, namely that one person's bad acting can drag down an entire film.
While I don't think Kristen Stewart is inherently a terrible actress, let me grant you that she doesn't exactly produce Oscar-worthy material (if we also base that idea entirely on Twilight, without taking a look at the rest of her roles.) That said, if she does get the role and gives a lukewarm performance, I think more than that would have to go wrong before the entire film goes south. As an example, The Godfather: Part III is widely regarded as being the weakest in the trilogy. People often point to Sofia Coppola's acting as the main reason why, but I don't buy it; I think it was an average film because it was too operatic, grandiose, and outright pompous. The story itself was to blame, and not because of a single actress in that case. Notice, also, that having Al Pacino, an Oscar winner, in the title role wasn't enough to raise the film from being merely mediocre. It's pretty much the same principle at work here, just in reverse - one good actor isn't necessarily enough to raise the acting of those around him.
If the story is strong or engaging enough, then the film might turn out alright. After all, as another example shows, The Matrix was one of the most highly innovative and original films to appear on the sci-fi horizon...even though Keanu Reeves played the title character. (And here too, I don't think Reeves is inherently a bad actor.) One last example of a decent actor in a bad film is Vincent Perez in The Crow: City of Angels. In a quality film like Queen Margot, however, he had material to work with. To wrap it up, I just hope the story is good, regardless of what actors/actresses get whatever roles in Akira. If that's the case, then Stewart wouldn't necessarily drag it and everyone around her down.

I feel like no matter who else is in the movie, it's going to be awful if Kristen Stewart takes the role. She is not only a poor actress, but also has the ability to drag down her co-workers' performances as well.
Honestly, I haven't seen Akira yet. But I somehow feel that this movie might turn out to be good if Ken Watanabe is there. I've seen his work in Inception, and he was impressive.
I have high hopes that the project will turn out good. Akira is one of those stories that, when transferred into a movie, can be either really good or really bad (but the same can be said for most anime adaptations.)

Ken Watanabe definitely has the commanding presence to play that part, possibly even giving that role more weight. I like the choice!

They're both good actors, so I'd be happy with either one doing the role.
I hope it turns out good, Akira is a classic.
