Over the years i've had some pretty cool memories here. From humble beginnings, to the forgotten years, then into the revival stages where i finally started to get the feeling of "belonging" here at Theotaku.
My first fondest memories of Theotaku actually began one summer day in 1999 - 2000. Back then i had just delved into the foray known as "anime" and when my family bought it's first computer i was able to search the internet for everything anime related, pics, songs, videos, everything.
I remember the day i stumbled upon Theotaku. It's simple layout caught my eye quickly, and i found myself at home with all of the hubs that contained screenshots, and reviews/summaries for a handful of anime series (Cowboy Bebop, Dragonball/Z/GT, Gundam Wing) to name a few. I also remember the fan art that was posted as well. Though all of that stuff was awesome, my favorite part of the site was the MIDI section. I would spend hours on end listening to the assortment of Midis that were available (especially the Cowboy Bebop ones), and due to that, i found myself visiting the site more and more as time passed.
My next great memory was the addition of the "Member" feature, and what would soon follow as "Myotaku". This is when things really started to pick up for me on the site. I remember being excited that i would be able to be part of a community that enjoyed the things that i enjoyed as well. At that time i made my original Yamcha account, as well as a couple of other accounts lol. As Myotaku moved along, i actually forgot the password to my original Yamcha account, and i was forced to create the new Yamcha_ account, which would come into play later. This profile is when things really started to click for me here on theotaku. I began spending alot of time editing my Myotaku page, and posting about my then new anime collection, as well as my escapades of recording anime from Cartoon Network.
After an explosion of great times, school came back around again, so i wasnt able to visit as much as i wanted to, and my home computer also crashed. Sad and distraught, it would be a year or so until i would be able to make my return.
Enter 2004. When 2004 came around, i had really hit my stride on the site. I was making alot of friends, posting alot, about all sorts of things, and having a great time. During 2005 i reached the pinnacle of my Myotaku/Theotaku career, when i reached inside of the #150 Member Ranks, and i was able to actually see my name on the list lol. I was really excited about that because i wanted to be #1 so bad - little did i know bad luck would be waiting around the corner.
The tough times came when i tried to login one day but my profile was apparently locked out. I tried everything i could think of, but nothing worked and i couldnt sign in at all. The only thing i could think of was to make a new profile, so i made the one i am currently using right now - Yamchaa
I transferred all of my friends over to my new profile and then basically rebuilt my profile and myotaku from the ground up. I hated losing my old profile, but i had to keep going, and i was able to forge great new memories with this profile as well :)
My next great memory would probably be the addition of Version Vibrant. I was skeptical of the change at first, but i found myself migrating over in order to maintain relevance and to keep up with the times. It took some time getting use to, but it was a good upgrade, and shortly afterwards i would begin creating my first wallpapers and uploading fan arts on a normal basis.
When chat came around, i was finally able to chat with some of the members i had always been curious about, and i was also able to become friends with Adam - and i greatly enjoyed chatting with him and finding out that we had alot of the same interest, especially in anime. and a couple of years ago He was able to fix the crazy problem that occurred with my old profile, which brought my story here at Theotaku full circle.
Nowdays i've been lazy, but i assure you Im ALWAYS HERE, I have a few posts ive been working on, as well as updates on my anime collection that i need to post up, so dont think for a moment that my story here has ended lol.
Theotaku has brought me alot of things - great friends including Enin, Dark Phoenix, Xaos, Adam, Japan, Stararnold, a place to share my love for anime, and a place to call home for a long time.
My favorite moment was our New Year's comment challenge and resolution challenge. We all came together and it was the most active weve been in a while.
Probably my most favorite theO moment was when Adam granted me the ability to auto-submit news in the site back in 2009 without having to wait for a queue for it to be approved.
That led me to search non-stop for the hottest news around the site. Eventually, all the news I submitted dominated the News Nuggets on several occasions. It also gave me opportunities to be involved in a lot of colorful discussions in the site.
It also led me to cover some huge news in the otaku world, like the parliamentary election in Japan that involved the "otaku" PM Taro Aso, the whole hullabaloo on the publicly-funded Japanese manga museum, and the untimely death of Crayon Shin-Chan mangaka Yoshito Usui.
Yeah, those were some colorful times. Can't really say they were totally fun, since I did report some grim news. But it was still cool to regularly see my username in the main page as a news contributor.

My favorite memories were probably back before Version Vibrant when there were essentially fanart "phases" that people were into. I joined theOtaku in 2006 when the Tokyo Mew Mew craze was going on, and through that I gained SO many friends that I'm actually still friends with today--6 years down the road. The Kingdom Hearts phase was probably my favorite though because I was able to connect with so many people through it. I was really surprised at how many people in the community were so linked by just one fandom, and with a great community like theOtaku's, it was just that much more fun to be on here and share my work with people.
I kind of miss the slightly competitive edge and effort it took to get to the front page. I always strived to work hard so I could finally earn a spot there haha, and looked to it whenever I wanted to see the work of artists I admired. I don't know, theOtaku just seemed so active back then and I feel like it's lost a bit of that spirit now, but it doesn't make me love the site any less. TheOtaku will always be my first internet home, and I don't plan on letting it go anytime soon.

One of my happiest memories was seeing one of my cards on the front page, before it was changed to how it was now. XD I remember thinking "Wow, my hard work really paid off." It was just one of those times when you really feel accomplished, and that was one of the only times I've really felt proud of my works. :3
And then there was meeting all of the AMAZING people on this website! If I hadn't met people like LightFykki and Anna-chan on here, I don't know what I would do. I've had a lot of good times on theO. ^^
Yeah I would definitely have to say...joining back in the old days, when myO was totally hopping with people...it was my favorite moment just cause since then I've made so many wonderful friends. My best friends I've technically met here. >> Better than the ones IRL lol!!
At the time, my favorite moment was when I was promoted to Otaku Legend...that was way back when...and there weren't all of these otakuite+++++ and such levels to get through. I somehow went from an otakuite straight to a Legend. XD I was so active, so yeah lol. >>
Not such a favorite moment was the drama that version vibrant caused for those of us loyal to myOtaku. I was one of those "I'll post on myO forever and not switch over!" But of course, things change, and here I am, enjoying this new otaku more than ever. :)
Oh yeah, and reading through other comments...for a specific moment, I totally just thought of it! When I entered that video game wallpaper contest. :D And I WON. I won the DBZ game and shirt and stuff. <33 So cool!

I have a bunch of favorite memories (if you don't mind me listing more than one), such as:
-Getting promoted two months in a row (thanks to those challenge slams :D)
-Being able to discuss my anime/manga/video game crushes knowing I wasn't alone and that I could discuss it without judgment from others
-Winning first place in the first caption contest I entered (at least, I believe it was the first... it was the dead girl with the swordfish and I made a CSI joke)
-Watching as both my and my brother's questions were answered by Colleen Clinkenbeard :D (I love those VA chat sessions, especially when I'm familiar with the VA)
And I know this isn't one specific memory, or even much of a memory at all, but I like how friendly people are on here. Other places I've been on the internet, you really have to choose your words and write your sentences with the utmost care lest a ton of people start hating on you (it's happened to me on Facebook -_-U). I mean, you still should be careful no matter where you write (including here), but I don't feel as inhibited here as I do on other websites. Maybe it's because I don't believe people here would viciously attack others for saying something they don't agree with (I haven't seen it here, either, so that lends to my belief).
So I want to thank everyone for being so nice ^_^

It encourages me to keep getting better, and without TheO i don't think i'd be where i am right now, so i thank you all , You guys are my driving force, but more importantly you guys are wonderful friends :D

Probably when me and a few other friends would just stay up really late on weekends and post pictures in theO chat and make silly captions for them. One of my favourite memories of theO.
I remember being forced onto here by a friend, and honestly I didn't think I would like it because my "otaku" status is going down the drain. I rarely watch anime anymore, yet here I am. I guess I gravitate to this site because everyone is so nice! (occasionally too nice for my tastes)
But my favorite memory was the comment slam. I made friends with people, and then when we moved to spamming Bossman's guestbook xD I was so sad when I had to miss the end when we hit our second goal. I don't know how long I'll stay on this site for now, but I hope my remaining time on this site will be a blast!
Haha! But it's quite true, where I live anime fans are rare, so I'm lucky to have stumbled upon this site. TheO has been nothing but pure joy for my geeky self.

Definitely the hilarious comment riots from the Greatest Character Ever battle.
Also, while visiting Artist Alley's at various Cons, I've met artists from theO in real life. I recognized their works from the fan art section here.
