To Demon Amber and anyone else who's looking to get into game design, I think the advice given here is quite solid. The only thing I would add is:
When you're looking at colleges and visiting college campuses, try to come up with questions you want to ask of students and any representatives of the college when you're there. One good question could be: "Are there any game design clubs on campus?" My college, Carnegie Mellon University, has a game design club (which I was part of), and I wouldn't be surprised if other college campuses had them, too - what with the prominence of the industry. CMU has a top-of-the-line Entertainment Technology Center game design program, too. If you have any questions about that, feel free to ask me. Of course, I'm biased towards my own college. But ask around when you visit college campuses! Don't be afraid to ask people things when you're there - you must capitalize on the time you have on campus when you're making the rounds. That's what you're there for!
*sad face about the lack of hockey anime/manga cause I love watching hockey* Yeah, I can't see it as being that popular in Japan...then again, it has enough trouble being popular here in the US. But yeah. Very interesting read here! :)
I think this would be pretty awesome if ya'll continued this :D
And I have to admit, I didn't think I would like Big Windup!, but it's actually a pretty good anime that I do recommend :3 But yes, I can see how some sport animes/mangas might not go over so well here.
Awesome question about hockey manga! :D I'd definitely be a fan of every hockey manga! Go Ahead is the only one I've read though and I had no idea about it till a friend mentioned it to me. I wanna draw a hockey manga!! My dream ^u^
Anyway, as for the questions/answers, this is pretty cool! If you continued, it would definitely be interesting, helpful, and fun :D
