I'm gonna wait and see.
I own the Nintendo 3DS, and I'm pretty happy with it, but I also know that Nintendo made the announcement about Wii U right around the time I bought my 3DS (So within the firs two months?). I'm a bit skeptical about how this is supposed to be better, but we'll see.
I'm a huge nintendo fan, I really am. But the WiiU is just nintendo's way of outdoing the PS3 and Xbox 360. It seems like a lot of fun, but really who wants to take the time to play a game through a bunch of touch screen controlling. To me, its too much for a game player to comprehend and may be too complicated to use. I still think the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be a better gaming consoles in the long run. Nintendo is trying to hard and that is that.

Well I own the original Wii and the 3DS, have had both for over a year.
And I'll be honest; I'm actually looking forward to the WiiU being released! But it's not likely we'll get it right away, mainly because of the price... For multiple reasons I will not say >__>
And from reading other comments; I did not know consoles were that buggy upon first release! Come to think of it, my family's never gotten a console that close to release date, usually about a few months later to sometimes a year later...
lol

They've really outdone themselves this time. Just when people were thinking, "What more can they come up with?" they go and think of this. This is what I imagine the future to look like.
Honestly, it super expensive. And in my book, unless i save for a couple months... Totally unaffordable! But you know what? I was and always will be a Nintendo baby and they have never disappointed me.I like how they go out on a limb and try amazing new things. So I'll be saving up for one. (Or you know... ask my family to throw some money together to get one for me as a Christmas gift.)
Just recently got a 3DS, so I don't have enough money for now for this one (plus consoles usually get more expensive here in Europe). And as always there are so many games to play and finish (older and newer) on so many systems so I will take on hold few years until I finish those first. To me, enough.^^
.....I'm surprised. It may be small, but that usually means squat when it comes to game consoles. Maybe they forgot to tag on another $100 or $200. XD lol
But anyway, for me, it's just another console/set of games I don't have the money for.
But Nintendo does get props for making a hand held Wii console. *thumbs up*
I really do love nintendo's products, so i'm sure it will be good i do want it but at the same time its just a wii that you can bring with you there is already the 3DS and the wii is for the Televistion not hand held
My first impression upon seeing the picture was that the controller portion of this contraption is a tad too large for my liking. Maybe the buttons will be easy enough to use, but Lord help you on the joysticks. Then again, I have not had the pleasure of testing this out yet, so y'all can completely ignore that comment.
As for actually investing in this thing, I'll have to say that this purchase shall be postponed until the Wii is, inevitably, outmoded. Or until there are at least two or three games that I would be interested playing on this system, but even this venue is a "maybe."
XD, GameStop's got their pre-order out already!
I usually hold off on buying new consoles until something I want comes out on them (KHBBS was the only reason why I bought a PSP, likewise for the PS3 and FFXIII)... so I'll probably hold off until something that I really want comes out. I initially didn't like the original Wii (and then LoZTP came ...:P), that being said, I think I'll hold off.
I'll probably wait to see the reviews on the WiiU. I mean, to be honest I don't use the Wii much besides playing Game Cube games :'3 I really do like the older systems, but sadly with all the new games coming out that I want to play, I feel like I will end up getting the WiiU, but maybe not right away. I mean, I still haven't gotten the 3DS. And I'm hoping the WiiU will have some sort of price drop hehe. I may be working but money doesn't come that easily especially with college right around the corner!

I personally do not like the Wii system, so I won't be one to splurge on it. Also, if I'm going to be honest, the controls on the Wii U look like they'd be a pain.
I'll stick with my Playstation and xBox systems~X<333
I'm getting older and well I don't know if its that or if games just aren't the same anymore so I don't know, probably wait and see and just get those few quirky games that are really good but no one notices later on. I just hope this time Nintendo balances things a little as far as customers go. I mean last cycle there was so much shovelware (exercise gimmick games, mini game collections, etc.) and some games didn't gauge what customer may not have liked/some early 21st Century views (Metroid: Other M)...overall, we'll see. There may be more innovations though from developers, and that's exciting.
I never buy videogame systems immediately upon their release dates, mostly due to the bugs that usually surface shortly after their release, plus the prices for today's videogame systems have risen to ridiculous heights. I usually see the Gamestop manager come in where i work about every night, and a few nights ago he said that all of the WiiU systems that he will have available have already been reserved or paid for.
I personally have never been a huge fan of handheld gaming (except for when the original Gameboy came out) and it certainly seems that Nintendo is going for that "Entertainment" aspect rather than just sticking with videogames like they have done with previous avenues.
I dont really have any interest in the WiiU or the original Wii, so it's a safe bet that i'll probably never own either one, but i'm expecting the sales to boom for a short period, then die out alot like the Vita did.
I think systems like these are a cool thing for people that are on the move alot, or dont have enough space to store normal consoles, but it's personally not for me lol.
'Wait and See' for me. I can't really make any appropriate calls at this point so early. Back in the days of the wii, it was horribly bashed before its launch (in my area at least) but ended up having a number of fun games on it that I truly enjoyed. Wii-U...I honestly don't know it's capabilities so I'll see how well it goes over once it's out.
Actually,I agree with you at this except on one point, some Wii games DOES use the motion control effectively other than fitness games such as the Trauma Series (as the best example I could give you;it also applies to DS)
And,gimmick-wise,I think the Kinect's far more blatantly unexploited (some dancing games and that's about it) than the Wii (no comment on PS Move.)
Abundant Love (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 09/19/12 | Reply
The Wii U and its tablet controller actually interests me more than the Wii's motion control or the 3DS's 3D did (especially the 3D), but there's not many actual games releasing around launch that I'd want for it. And I still haven't even bought a 3DS yet, while it's cheaper and has more games I want already out, so I'm in the wait and see camp.
But as usual, I'll be forced to get one eventually for new Zelda and Smash Bros. at least.
I have no idea yet, I don't even know it whats like. I'm not thrilled over the idea though, I hate how everything has to upgrade. I like the WII I have. But I don't have a real opion yet, I have not seen what the WII U is like. So, I'll wait and see. Though I wont buy it for a long time, I have other things I want first

WT? This is new to me. Why do we need another console? I don't see a need for this one at all. Now when i see new things coming out like this or whatever gadget it is, i see scrape metal/plastics. Also, what kind of name is "Wii U"? Sounds like someone sighing "whew" and wiping the sweat off of their forheads to me. Well it was probably hard to come up with this name. Um..no i dont think so.
oh yeah to answer the question whether if i would buy this at launch or wait and see, i'd say no :D
I've long since given up on Nintendo, I don't care what they make, I won't waste money on their products. I can only hope that in the following year, they don't remake this system 10 times over like the DS, it saddens me to see people waste their hard earned cash on the same system over and over, unless their console is legitimately broken.
I always take the "wait and see" approach on everything :) But for this Wii U, I probably won't even own one, unless someones gives it to me. I'm just not feeling it, there's nothing that excites me with this new nintendo console...probably because I don't play games as much as I used to. That is all. :)
First i thught that Nintendo was doing another kid's game but when i saw all the games that are comming i see that they are makit it more for teenageres so i'm going to get it when its comming out in EU

to be honest i would love to have a wiiU. i have seen a list of games that are coming to the system and i was quite impressed but due to financial constraints it will have to wait.
Nintendo's problem to me in this generation has been the fact that it rides on gimmicks. While I own a DS, I am the first to say that the touch screen aspect of it is nothing more than a gimmick - very few games actually competently use it, and to be integral to the plot. The Wii centers around motion controls, which, again, almost no games have actually used as a better replacement of regular gaming (except what, fitness games?) The 3DS rides on the surge in popularity of 3D. Now the WiiU appears to be Nintendo finally realizing the internet exists, and bringing their system up to specs with what was relevant five years ago.
But somehow, I have ended up with nearly every Nintendo device, from the NES to the Wii, from the GameBoy Pocket to the DS. I've avoided a 3DS, perhaps I can say the same of the WiiU.
Nopenopenope.
It still needs improvements, despite its new features (such as multi-touch screen >:u). The whole idea of motion gaming was lost with the new controller, and therefore, I don't even think it should be named after the Wii. It would have been better if they improved the Wii to make it more like the Kinect, but instead they did this. 8| Some people will flock. I'm not one of them. :c
The Poison Of God (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 09/18/12 | Reply
I'm not as excited about the U as I probably should, given my hardcore gaming,so I'll probably go for a "wait and see" approach.Lately,I've been a bit more interested in the U because of...Bayonetta 2 but buying a console for a single game isn't very wise, these days.
...Until,I see at least 10 must-picks,I'll stick to my current consoles(a Wii,Ps2,360,DS and PSP),which I'm already quite satisfied with.
Oh,and maybe a 3DS too,for Shin Megami Tensei 4 (OFF-TOPIC)
I'm definitely waiting to see if any (exclusive) good games come out for it. And, since it'll most likely be region locked like the 3DS, I also have to see if there are interesting Japanese games that won't be localized to determine whether or not I would buy the Japanese one or the US one. So, if I ever buy it, it's going to be in a long time.
I'm interested, but the price throws me off. I think I'll wait. For now I'll stick with my PS3 and other consoles and maybe get a 3DS. Who knows... I always wait for games and then decide what I want to get.
My brothers want this seeing they love to game.. but ever since I accidentally deleted my awesome life on Animal Crossing Wild World and had to have a depressing restart, I've been indifferent towards gaming xD I do like playing some games tho, I really DON'T like how they always come out with somthing new =_= And anyway, I'm ore of a handheld gamer.. I have a DS, DS Lite, and now a 3DS, but won't be going for the 3DS Xtra large or anything else for that matter.. still, I'll probably be checking out the Wii U cuz of my brothers xD
I highly doubt that I'll get it.
I don't even play my 3DS ever since I beat "Dream Drop Distance" (Took me less than a day.) and I'm almost 100% sure that the next KH game, "Realm of the Dissouled" will be on this one. But I already have too many systems.
I have an Xbox360, PS2, I still have my PS1, but that's at my Dad's...I have a Wii, a DS Lite and a 3DS, my PSP broke I just have too much.
Hmm..well, I'm going to do a watch and see at this point. I saw the gameplay preview that they did during E3, and it does look fun.
I heard that an Asassin's Creed game and Bayonetta 2 is supposed to be made for it. Eh, I dunno. I'm kinda "iffy" on it. I doubt the price will even go down before Christmas, so yeah I think I'm just going to wait and see. Plus, I haven't really heard about very many intresting game titles for it, besides those two that are coming.
I like the look of it, and I am interested to see how it works, but I won't be buying one any time soon. Can't afford it XD and I'm happy playing through the games I already have for the Wii/xbox right now ^^
Chibi Artist Girl (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 09/18/12 | Reply
The price is prohibitive, so I'd probably wait until it's been out a while. But it looks really cool, and I find it funny that all the other console makers are copying off of Nintendo. XD
Eh, I'll see if it's really worth it. But since I'm too poor for the other current generation consoles Nintendo and Sony have now(pretty much stuck in the PS1&2/Wii/DSi and below generation), I doubt I'll get it ASAP.
I probably won't be buying one. I'm more interested in what Sony will be releasing. Although, I cannot say I will not buy one - if a game comes up that I just have to have (and if I can afford it) I might go ahead and buy it.
Definitely a "wait and see". I'm curious to see what games they'll have, but at the same time, I'm not willing to spend 299$ on another game system...
I guess it all depends on what games they plan to release later on. If something interesting pops up, and I have the moolah, I'll get it.

I'll start things off. As much as I love Nintendo (I waited in line 6 hours to get a Wii at its launch) I'm so incredibly overwhelmed by gaming options at the moment, across so many platforms, that it's hard to imagine making time for yet another console, especially since there doesn't seem to be a "must have" launch title. So put me down for "wait and see"

I'd rather wait and stick with my PS3 for now. It's looks cool but I wanna see how popular it gets first.

I like the xbox 360 and ps2 better, the ps3 does not have as many good games as the ps2.
The wii only has a few good games

I like how it's looking but I'm getting to that point where I can't get every console when it comes out. I'm gonna wait on this one.

It's not an option for me...I prefer the xbox with kinect.

I like the look of it, and I am interested to see how it works, but I won't be buying one any time soon. Can't afford it XD and I'm happy playing through the games I already have for the Wii/xbox right now ^^

I'm planning to buy one, but I'll be waiting a while until the games I want are released (like Zelda and Smash Bros).

Waiting for my "killer app" game to justify a purchase. Other than that, I'm eager to see what happens with it.
