I can understand that, I am totally for Microsoft, and made that mistake with the PS3 I gotten like 4-5 games that I liked, then it went into the closet, and is still there.
When men feel invincible, they do things that invincible men do.
Hmm, well I did read that companies like Sony and Microsoft are looking for indie developers to bring in "different" games like Flower, Super Meat Boy, etc. Giving the developers a chance to make their own engine will give everyone a fair chance (or for the most part). Then you won't have people saying "PS/Xbox has better graphics" like folks did for the PS and Xbox release of FFXIII (though I couldn't see much of a difference at all...I have no idea what they were all looking at).
That's good of Microsoft to do...I just plain don't like Microsoft, so I absolutely refuse to break down and buy an Xbox unless a game that I MUST play comes out on it. Yeah, my loss, but that's alright with me. Actually, people were saying PS3 was for more hardcore gaming because of Journey (some crazy comments), though I can agree with some of them. It mostly just depends on who's playing.
I won't be getting the xbox one, since I always had problems with the xbox 360 (rings of death and it STOP WORKING) I love my PS3, I won't be able to get the PS4 right away, but it will be in my collection. The fact that xbox one will be focusing more on TV and many other useless social medias like facebook. Nobody cares on facebook and seriously it is suppose to be a game console. Why can't these companies focus more on the fact that it is for games and gamers. Another reason that I won't be getting xbox is because I am not paying full price for a video games and that fact that full price is 60 dollars at the moment what happens if this goes up! Nobody has money like that to spend nowadays. What about the resale companies for example game stop? I like buying used games because it is cheaper. Xbox just keeps on disappointing and I really think people should not buy the xbox one for what they are trying to do.
I am staying with Sony and Nintendo...... well I don't have a Wii...... BUT I do like the handheld consoles from them so I still love you Nintendo.
If anyone has a PS3, Vita, or PSP please give the Ys and Tales series a shot. The games are great and they could really use good sales numbers to continue here in the States.
I fully agree with you there. I just hope Nintendo is going to step up on their game releases - a console is not much use if there's nothing to play on it.
As for Xbox, have you seen >this gem< yet?
Left me quite speechless.

I think the main concern will end up being the lack of Backwards Compatibility and the Used Game Market. The price points of these new systems will be an issue as well.
I'm sure the system prices will be at least $399 and up, and im also pretty sure that the price of games will go up as well, because some game companies wont survive the transition and more money will have to be made elsewhere to pick up the slack.
Another issue for these systems will be the possible bugs they will have on release. Hackers and Modders will get ahold of these systems and have their way with them until Sony or Microsoft finds a way to stop them.
I always wait a couple of years when a new system comes out - because of price drops, and bug fixes that will be iminent once they are released, and since these new systems are basically turning their backs on the used game market, more questions arise about the future of GameStop and stores like Game Exchange. It seems like companies are trying to bottelneck the consumer into paying full price for games at all times, which sucks because not everyone can constantly hand out money for games, systems, and gaming fees, and DLC and online activities/downloads/services.
The last i checked, you wont get much money back for a PS3 or 360 if you try to sell it to Gamestop or Game Exchange (maybe $70) so it is basically pointless to sell the old system, especially since the PS3 and the 360 are STILL both good systems as we speak.
I personally think that most people will stick with PS3 and 360 until Sony and Microsoft shut down online capabilities for those systems (like the original xbox, etc) because they still offer alot right now, and they are pretty low priced right now as well.

My personal opinion leans towards the Xbox One, I have a Wii U and have had one for a while, The Wii U has no games that I like with the exception of the re-hashed Arkham City game, which I already have the collector's edition and the Game of the Year edition. So I have no games for it -w-, as far as handhelds go, I just watched them re-hash donkey kong country returns for the 3ds, the only 2 games I played on it were the paper mario game, tales of the abyss re-hash, and the kingdom hearts game -w-.
Sony I played god of war 3, metal gear solid 4 and the infamous and killzone games. Everything else I wanted to play on the console came out on my beloved 360, and I played it on my 360, the new controller Has a screen on it, I don't use the screen on the Wii U so why would I use it on the PS4 -w-.
Now Microsoft, where do I start, I watched the press conference, but I also have friends in industry that get me into E3 every year.
The Console- It has at least 6 times the power of the 360. You can transfer your profile, it has evolving achievements, the developers are no longer restricted to just achievements when the game was released, or added from a dlc package. The new controller follows the old adage " If it isn't broken, don't fix it" Te controller is 15% more responsive than it predecessor, Mircosoft looked at the Screen in the controller but decided it wasn't necessary since they were tweaking the Kinect.
The Kinect- The most impressive piece of gaming hardware I have seen. The new Kinect has inferred (night vision and low lighting senors), you can in total darkness, or in a singular light source, like a one window room, it filters out ambient light, so it picks you up regardless of how much light their is. It can mimic your indo-skeletal movements, if you bend you finger while spinning you arm in circles it will pick up your movements, it also has the ability to mimic facial expressions.
Finally as far as no backwards compatibility goes why did I buy a 360 in the first place if I'm not going to use it -w-, plus they will drop several in price once the new console releases anyway, so replacing it will be easy. So yeah I think My choice is clear, since Mircosoft has decided they were making a console the have had my undying support, that's not about to change now.
When men feel invincible, they do things that invincible men do.
Unfortunately nintendo is stepping back, E3 the biggest gaming convention in North America is the 10th of June and nintendo is not holding a press conference to show their new games, the last time this happened SEGA went out of business and had to sell their game titles to Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo.
When men feel invincible, they do things that invincible men do.
As I had told someone else, the game developers will be making their own graphics engines, EA and Kojima have decided to start their own graphic engines for their games so they don't have to rely on the power of the console alone to make their game look and run well. As far as buying new consoles every couple of years go, before the current-gen console the life span was 5 years, with these it is 10, and the new xbox is going to try and make their console more like the PC in others words you don't replace a PC every couple of years unless you break it same with the new xbox one, they are trying to the last xbox you ever have to buy, no xbox 720, or xbox two that is the idea when the new wii and PS5 come out, the xbox one will be its rival that is the idea. As far as mature games go the only "console for "casual" gamers is the nintendo console. The xbox and PS3 are for both that is why they share several of the same games Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc, and Xbox has one of the most hardcore titles on the planet Gears of War, which is the violent equivalent of God of War ^_^.
When men feel invincible, they do things that invincible men do.

Sony has to replace the PS3 upon the console's release it nearly bankrupted the company ^^, besides that they had a huge security breach that just avoided causing 17 million cases of Identity theft. As for Microsoft, they would like the xbox one to be more like the standard PC, they are talking very seriously about not making another xbox after this, because they will just do software/hardware updates to where you will not need a new xbox after this, this is backed by the fact that game developers are starting to make their own graphic engines, This theory implicates that the console itself will not determine the quality of the graphics but the company the game is made by, examples are EA, and Kojima(the people who make the metal gear solid series) ^_^.

Since I'm pretty much a Nintendo/PC person (ignore that Kinect I recently bought used XD it's for MikuMikuDance and the like), definitely the Wii U. BUT I'd like to say that, aside from future releases like the new Super Smash Bros., a new Zelda title, and the currently out Scribblenauts Unlimited (with that wonderful custom character creator :D), I can't say I'm completely interested in the Wii U. Personally, I think the 3DS was one of the best (and so far the only) console investments I've ever made (I think of it as a handheld console. And the rest were gifts or bought for the family). There are a bunch of games for the 3DS that I like or are interested in :)
Of the (current?) gen, I own a 360 and a Wii; to me the 360 was just this perfect bundle of what it needed to be. It played the games, I wanted, and it also played DVDs (very important when you want to cut down on 'number of things connected to your TV'). The negative marks were needing to pay for Gold membership to XBox live to do anything fun. That essentially turned my Wii into nothing more than a Netflix machine, since Nintendo has never had my attention when it comes to their consoles (handhelds, that's different). Once the next gen gets all their players into gear (and once I procure the funds), I'll be getting a PS3.
Because to be honest, this gen just lost me, and I spent more time playing PS2 games that were now more affordable for me. The concept of price comes up now and again, but simply fact of the matter is that I don't have the 60+ dollars to spend on every new game for this system. Next gen is looking to cost more than that per game, which is absurd.
The fact of the matter is, my laptop right now is as powerful as the PS4 and the XBox One. The former actually captured my intrigue despite their buffer-tastic press conference, while the latter just took a dump on a great gaming foundation and is making their new machine into a computer. I have a computer. I have Steam. Steam has sales all the time. Now that Microsoft has said that the One will no longer allow you to pay pre-owned games without paying a fee, they have rendered that possible fighting chance for their system obsolete.
Meanwhile, the PS4 actually seems to be going back to games. I am natively a console gamer, and whatever I play on Steam I play with an USB controller. If the PS4 gets exclusive games, then I'll seriously consider owning one.
The Wii U never had my interest and probably never will. My 3DS, on the other hand, is really itching for stuff, so that's cool.
tl;dr:
XBox One: hahahano
PS4: Extremely plausible
Wii U: Really don't care
PSP Vita: You need more games other than P4 Golden
3DS: "BUY MORE GAMES FOR MEEEE"
I am so behind with the games I already own, I just don't have enough time for games these days. I won't be buying a new console for a long time yet XD However, I do plan on buying a 3DS at some point (Fire Emblem YESSS!) just as soon as my finances are a little less shaky aha...
I tend to stick with Nintendo anyway, but I know relatively little about the Wii-U.

I'm leaning towards the Wii U honestly. I am patiently awaiting the arrival of the next Legend of Zelda and Super Smash bros on that console. Plus Lego City looks pretty awesome. :)
I've always been a Playstation guy. I've had horrible experiences with Xbox, but I really prefer their controller more then the PS. After the PS3 hit the market, and PS2 startet to fade away, my interest in consoles have been lacking. I do own both Xbox 360 and a PS3, but I mainly only play figthers on the Xbox, due to the controller.
I was very disappointet in the Xbox One, odd name, reveal. For me it looked more like a cable box tbh. I missed the focus on games, like what PS is doing atm, and the various impressions and details that I've read/heard really puts me off for buying a Xbox One. But I hope that they'll come out guns blazing at E3.
I've always waited some time after console releases, to hear peoples opionion and to see what kind of games that has been released.
I'm mostly a PC gamer, due to most of my friends are on PC, and I've always kept fighters and racing games on the consoles as I'm more comfortable with that.
Honestly right now I'm a bit disappointed at both PS4 and Xbox One...I am all for great tecnology for gameplaying but it comes to a point where things get out of hand...I give a big Hurrah to the graphics improvement, sound, Kinect, Hd, etc and etc...but there is a lot of stuff from what I read that shouldn't be there...gaming consoles are not computers or dvd/blu-ray readers or a way to be always connected to the internet and everything else...I'm not saying that there aren't people happy with these things but I for one am not...
The Xbox 360 is easily my favorite system of this generation, but I don't at all like the looks of the Xbox One. For one thing, I don't like that they seem to be focusing on tv more than games, I want a game system for games. Also they said there would be no form of cross compatibility, I am not willing to give up all my 360 games, so that would force me to have both sytems.
The PS4 sounds like the superior system so far, the only thing making me want the Xbox One is Halo, I am a huge Halo fan so I'm going to want to own and play all of the Halos. I'll probably wait till the One goes down in price then buy it for Halo.

PS4. I prefer Sony more than Microsoft.
Me and the Xbox 360 never go along. They broke so easily. I think I went through about 4 of them. The current one I own is refurbished.
Because I am aware of how "delicate" the xbox 360 was. I don't think I should spend my money on the xbox one right away. I'm definitely getting a PS4 though.
As for the Wii U. I do love Nintendo and some good games are supposed to be coming out for it. So i'll more than likely be getting it later on.
As much of a gamer as I am, I am always behind with the new things lol...so I haven't even read up on the new systems! I am totally fine with my ps3 and 3DS...I already neglect my 360, so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want a new Xbox lol. If anything, I would say ps4 since I've always loved the playstation systems, but I would have to wait a while until the price drops A LOT haha.

I've always been a fan of nintendo consoles but I'm leaning towards the xbox one since I've mostly been using the xbox 360 nowadays. Nintendo has to step it up another notch.
You just said exactly what I was thinking when I read about the PS4 and Sony's approach to social gaming! What's wrong with single player? Or the days when you played with someone sitting next to you? Maybe it's just that I don't like Facebook and Twitter (& all of the others too), so I really don't like it when social networking has to bleed into everything. Do I really need to post what just happened to me in FFXIII-3? I think I'll just play with the internet off...
I'll always lean more towards PSs than Xboxes. I really, really hate having to buy all these new consoles, but it's the life I chose to live...c'est la vie. I mean, I was finally getting to like the Wii a little better and now WiiU? Wtf. Maybe I'll just stick with handhelds from Nintendo.
I am investing in a PS Vita (new version of Muramasa, P4G, not to mention FF Type-0 & Atlus's brawler Dragon's Crown) and a 3DS (KHDDD & Fire Emblem)...though now that PS4's on the horizon, I'm not really sure what I should do with my PS3. Does anyone know if I can redownload my DLC from my PSN account (say if I traded out my old PS3 for the newer PS3 slim?). Getting off topic here...
The Xbox One looks cool, but like some people, I think that Xbox is more for casual gaming and the PSs are for more...serious(? Elaborate? More mature?) games, like Journey. PS4 also gets a new controller...not to mention several games have already been announced for it (check GameInformer's June issue!)...I'm really interested to see what the graphics engine will look like. I'm sure it'll be more advanced, but right now it's not looking too different from PS3.
My PC for random releases that catch my eye.
WiiU + 3DS for all the Nintendo goodness.
I really don't care much for the whole "multimedia spectacle" that Microsoft is throwing out with the Xbox One. I don't watch much TV, I don't want a Kinect monitoring me all the time, and if I want to search something on the internet I just use the bloody computer.
I do not care much for the social, Facebook-esque networking features that some consoles push. I'm looking at you, Sony. Doesn't matter to me if I can film a gameplay video and share it with my friend on the shiny PS4 if I don't have anything to play that interests me. It'll be the library of games that will make or break the PS4 for me.
hmm... i'm into the PS4. I've been playing video games on the playstation for a LONG TIME, so i'm sticking with the console that's been around since i was little. well, more like when the PLAYSTATION (original); came out.
IDK.
Video-games haven't interested me as much as they used to.
The only games I'm waiting for is the next "Kingdom Hearts", another "Final Fantasy", and this new game made by Square Enix.
Other than that and "Tekken", I have little interest in.

Mmm...I still love the original Wii..so if I had to choose one of those consoles, I would probably go with the Wii U.

For now. I'm saving up for a PS Vita.

@CitrusStorm:

Short answer: none of them. I've been profoundly bad at video games since 2006 and I don't even own a TV anymore.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!

IDK.
Video-games haven't interested me as much as they used to.
The only games I'm waiting for is the next "Kingdom Hearts", another "Final Fantasy", and this new game made by Square Enix.
Other than that and "Tekken", I have little interest in.
