Did the story need that many elements? "Yes!", cried the makers in unison! "No!", cried myself as I finally dropped it around episode 24 or so.

Maybe I should give brotherhood a try??
I have a lot that I gave up on....
Lucky Star, K-on, Yuru Yuri, Hidamari Sketch.... All for the same reason. They weren't as interesting as I thought....
I've stunted on a few animes like Birdy the Mighty, Kaiba, Final Fantasy Unlimited, Gurren Lagann, Slayers, Rockman EXE not because they were too boring, but because I kind of switched over to video games at the time.
I actually finished Kaiba and Final Fantasy Unlimited not too long ago. (omg I cried at the end of Kaiba, really good anime, I recommend it to everyone) I still have like 14 episodes left for Gurren Lagann, a full 3 seasons for Slayers, a season for Rockman EXE.... so yeah... a long way to go.
I gave up on vampire knight because SERIOUSLY at the beginning the story it was interesting but after that the plot never changed. for example, Zero is still a loner Yuki and Kaname are usually sexual with each other and yeah... AND THE OTHER ANIME I GAVE UP ON IS My Heavenly Hockey club. and yea I don't even want to give a description for that.
-.-''
i even went beyond episode 3, like up to 5. then that's where i was like "meh". The guy that voices Sebastian is the same one that does kouya in ouran host club. then i was seeing where the storyline was going. and i'm still thinking...."i think it needs a little bit more" so that's when i gave up on it.
yea Valvrave isn't very good. It seems like the creators took every cliche from every Gundam series and rolled it into one "new" series.
I just think there is way too much coincidental stuff going on in that show that makes it just unbearable to watch, even though the animation is pretty good. There is only so many times a group of school kids can do that type of stuff lol.
Sword Art Online was really good, but around episodes 15 - 20 it got pretty stupid (mostly the incest situations between Kirito and Suguhu). Suguhu's character ALMOST ruined the series for me.
Mine is Denpa Onna.
The reason is very stupid XD I accidentally watched the last episode first (i didn't see the title or episode number though) and it was very boring so I refused to watch the remaining episodes XD
Another is Naruto. It's so long I don't know what's the last episode I've watched XD But I think I'll watch it sometime. ^v^
~tafu-chan♥
Well... From episode 1-3 they are like intors and all but in episode 4 i think thats when some blood happens :P It's your opinion and i respect that.. But in my opinion i am a black butler addict lol.
i would say that an anime show i given up was Naruto. at first, it's was an interesting show to me that i decided to watch it online. the fillers that i have no interest on most of the time and very long episodes slowed me down bit by bit, so i stopped watching it for a year (or maybe it was a few months...). i tried to get back to it but there was a lot of things going on i was extremely behind and forgotten what episode i watched last time. i couldn't skip to a certain episode because i wouldn't know what character, or what ability, or what story they had. so i said forget this and gave up on it.
oh.... and i also gave up on yugioh at the time xexal was on. the story line of the show was a little bit stupid to me. after 5d's that was it.
Thank you! Someone else who doesn't think Valvrave is good. I MIGHT just finish it just to laugh at it but compared to Gargantia and Majestic Prince it's not as hot.
I'm not one to give up on anime, especially if i have already bought a dvd or vhs tape with episodes on it. I usually always come back to an anime to finish it Eventually. It may take months or years but i come back to it at some point lol.
There are some anime titles that i refuse to watch though, such as
Gundam SEED - horrible animation for a Gundam series, especially the space battles.
And there are a few series that ive started watching, that i havent comnnected with yet, such as
Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar
Valvrave the Liberstor
Steins Gate
Night Raid 1931
Kids on the Slope
and a few others, but i still plan on seeing them through to the end, even if i lose interest.

I'd hate to say it, but I gave up on One Piece and Pokemon.
Pokemon because all the voice actors are changed, they got rid of the good characters, Ash looks totally different. And it got old.
One Piece just because I never got the hype about it. I don't see why it's so great and I hate the character design. But that's just me. Lots of people like both of those.
I have liked pretty much every anime I've watched but a lot of the times I am watching one then I get interested in another one then another one then another one then so on and so forth. So I have a LOT (a LOT as in like 50 or more...) of unfinished animes. I don't really "abandon" them, I just keep forgetting to watch them again...
I was going to say Valvrave but I think I'll go back and watch it AFTER watching Majestic Prince end which hasn't ended yet. But the last one I remember going "oh God why?" and dropped was Dragonaut. That anime had me thinking it was going to be at least nice dumb violence and fan-service. It wasn't even that. It was just... terrible. What makes me even more salty about it is I actually paid two dollars to watch the first episode! ><
The Angel of Death (Senior Otaku) | Posted 07/20/13 | Reply
Deadman Wonderland TwT. It got cancelled, Me and my friends speculate that it is because of the intense level of graphic violence. But I do not know the exact reason why it was cancelled after the first 12 episodes.
When men feel invincible, they do things that invincible men do.
I've rarely given up on a series, particuarly if it's on TV, since it basically has to offend my brain for me to give up on it. For me, that was Tenchi Muyo GXP on the revival of Toonami. Egad, what a horrifically awful show - and I LIKED Tenchi Muyo back in the day. (And while it's not anime, it's on Toonami, so I will say that I cried blood trying to get into the Thundercats reboot. I got so bored with it that I gave up with maybe 5 episodes left, and that was after about three weeks of putting music on over a muted episode.)
Yu yu Hakusho would be one of them, Bleach as well because it's too long and somewhat tedious.
But then there's that side of me that says I should try to finish one of them. Then there's the larger side of me that slaps the other side of me. --_--''
*I've given up on Full Metal Panic! It just didn't appeal to me...I always waited for something to happen between the blue hair girl (can't remember names) and the guy...but obviously it was Mecha and I didn't know if anything would happen..so I gave up.. Sorry FMP!!
Gurren Lagann. It was featured here on theO as a preview, the first couple of episodes or so (this was a great feature; I'm sad it didn't pan out). I thought, "I'll watch the first five episodes and see if it grabs me." But it didn't. I've heard from lots of other people about how much they liked it and I've seen clips and they're interesting but it's never enough to make me actually watch the whole thing.
well, i have two that ive stopped watching. 1. kampfer- watched the first couple eps but then dropped it because i came to the conclusion that it was too wierd for me. & 2. Naruto. i love the naruto series, but stopped watching because i was already reading it online. so though i may not watch it, i still read it. so i havent completly given up on it yet.
I painstakingly finish everything I start. I need to go back and finish Cyborg 009 and Escaflowne. Cyborg got boring for me but as far as Escaflowne goes I just need to get to it. Haven't watched it since those dreadful Fox Kids days.
well i havent give up for watching an anime and the reason is that cause all anime that i have seen for me are wonderful .before starting an anime i usually read what is about to make sure that the story is great .i dont give up in anime with long episodes too cause i want to see the end.^^
Recently huh I guess Higurashi I just can't sit through the different scenarios at first the idea of the changing plot seemed to be nice but I just couldn't get into it after the first scenario.
Mirai Nikki will be my andswer. At first it was really interesting to me and i just loved it. But it had so many plotholes and a way too stupid, useless main charater; so i stopped watching it.
I gave up on Tokyo Mew Mew Power I used to watch it when I was little, so after years I decided to watch it again, but it was totally different I didn't like it anymore probably because I was like 6 or 7 years back then, and I think it's boring now :3 but I'm surely never going to give up on bleach, I love that anime so much
The latest one I dropped was Amnesia, after the first story. I adored it's animation but the story was just lame.
Also, To Aru Majutsu no Index, Lucky Star, Guilty Crown after a few episodes, and Shakugan no Shana after the second season. They all started good but lost appeal after a while.
I usually don't drop long running anime like Bleach or Fairy Tail. Just need to catch up to the latest episodes~
For me it was Naruto and One Piece. I have to admit, back in my younger days of watching the complete first season of Naruto, I loved it, until they stopped showing it on Saturday nights on the old Toonami, and not too soon after I heard that Disney XD got the rights to it, then I just stopped watching it altogether after a few episodes of Shippuden. It felt like they kept dragging each episode out and it got boring and I completely lost interest and didn't like it anymore.
As for One Piece, I got bored one day and seen that it was on TV so I just kinda watched it out of curiosity since I also heard how popular it was. At the end I was like "NOPE". I didn't catch much of my interest whatsoever, and therefore after that, I stopped watching anymore of it due to the failure of it not holding my likeness to it.
However, Bleach, I am still watching. I just skip the filler episodes everytime they're shown and wait until they get back to what's actually going on. I don't think I'll ever be giving up on this one. Loved it since the first episode.
I gave up on One Piece because it doesnt take 500+ episodes to find some treasure. It takes the Straw Hat Crew that long to accomplish what Jack Sparrow can in 2 hours
I gave up on Bleach because it became too long and I lost interest...though the nail in the coffin was the ridiculous filler arc with the zanpakutos. I mean, it was okay at first, but... Anyway, Naruto also became way too long for me as well.
I didn't want to give up on Deadman Wonderland, but Toonami stopped showing it and it's not on Crunchyroll either, so I had to. I think I'll just go back to reading the manga.
I also gave up on Rumbling Hearts. People like that kind of drama at times, and what they call a "realistic feeling", but I dont find it enjoyable in the least.
welll...I stopped seeing Bleach because of the filler arcs but Rumbling Hearts was truly the only anime that I gave up because I couldn't stand it anymore...
I guess Attack on Titan would be one for me, but I'm still kind of waffling on finishing it. It's just really heavy and somewhat hard to watch.
Before that series, though, I dropped School Rumble like it was hot because of its over-reliance on fanservice-y shenanigans. That got really old really fast.
Abundant Love (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 07/18/13 | Reply
Bleach when I couldn't take yet another filler arc.
Soul Eater when Funi licensed it and killed the fansubs with C&D's. By the time they actually released it, I'd forgotten most of what had happened and didn't care anymore.
The rest that I've dropped were just because they bored me. When a show looks like it could be decent but I have others I'd rather watch during the current season, it usually goes on my on hold list.
Hyouka. It's so boring and full of lame mysteries. I started to watch it because I was interested in the animation and its cute characters. ^^;;
Tamako Market. Just like Hyouka, excluding the lame mysteries. Most of the characters are pretty boring .__.
Fairy Tail. I quite enjoyed at first but I got disappointed. The fights are so predictable (yeah, good guys always win), some of them are too short, the characters past aren't so interesting, and their magic abilities are common (except Lucy's). I got bored, but I really love the artwork.

I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls <3
It's been a long time since I've given up on an anime. There were some that I watched a few episodes of, stopped for a long time, and then came back (example: Inuyasha). Then there are ones that I watched out-of-order so that the ending was spoiled for me (thanks, high school anime club), but then came back to because I wanted to know how they actually GOT there (example: Trigun, Cowboy Bebop).
I'm even still sticking it out with Naruto Shippuden despite the fact that I'm over 100 episodes behind. Yes, the pacing has slowed down considerably since the early days. Actually, the fast pacing of the very first story arc in the whole series was one of the things that endeared me to the show in the first place. Now it's not holding my interest, but I can't just abandon it. So I've been doing a few mini Naru-thons here and there, quitting for a while, and going back.
I guess the only anime shows that I've abandoned were Pokemon, Digimon, and the first two Dragonball series. Let me go into detail.
I still have a soft spot for the Pokemon games, but let's face it, the anime is really repetitive. It's also been "dead to me" ever since Misty left. And while Ash is perpetually 10 years old, I've kind of grown out of the Pokemon anime due to the lack of plat advancement.
Digimon was kind of cool until the fourth season when they chucked everything that was previously established out the window. I know that the third season didn't go by the same rules as the first two, but at least there were references to things in the first two series. But when the kids actually BECOME the Digimon and the plot is derived from the Apocalypse, then things get ridiculous. Also, unlike Pokemon evolution, Digivolution seems to have no rhyme or reason.
Dragonball and Dragonball Z are strange cases for me. I never liked DBZ due to the sluggish pacing and the utter lack of strong female characters (the only thing the DBZ girls do is carry on the Saiyan race). But I watched it anyway to see what would happen next. Even though I started watching it in the middle of one of the arcs and had no clue what was going on. After several reruns, I was still hanging on, hoping that they'd air the rest of the series (it stopped midway through and started from the beginning). When those episodes did air, I found to my chagrin that they replaced the entire voice cast with, like, one guy. I still watched it, though. I even watched the original Dragonball when they finally aired that. But the original was so heavily censored that the jokes weren't even funny (not that I find pervy jokes funny in the first place). I probably stopped watching both series because high school got in the way. Then I stopped caring.
There are, however, some anime that I've stopped watching but want to watch again. I've tried to re-watch Sailor Moon, but I've been doing it through various fan sites because just about everything having to do with that anime is out-of-print in the States. I also want to go back to Tenchi Muyo, but there are so many series, and I don't know what order they go in.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!
To Aru Majutsu no Index.
It was so INCREDIBLY BORING. 9 episodes in and I was done with it haha.
(NOT TO MENTION THE RED HAIRED GUY IS 14?!?!?!? UM. WHAT.)

I gave up on Haibane Renmei. It started off good and I LOVE anything to do with people having wings. But it just seemed really slow and didn't progress much. It didn't meet my action requirements.
i gave up on BLACK BUTLER. I know what you all are thinking "why". after 3 episodes of season 1, i'm just like "meh". then there was ONE PIECE, i didn't get into either.
I stopped on "Shakugan no Shana".
It was too long, and I hadn't watched it in a while, so when I came back I lost track of the story and didn't feel like re-watching the episodes I did watch.
Inuyasha :P it's a great anime really but after a while it just gets boring. I was really into it for 2 weeks but then i reached episode 92 and i just don't feel like watching it anymore because there are so many more episodes. Also i started watching Toradora on Youtube and i read a comment that spoiled it :/ so i lost my motivation to watch it .

Bleach, Naruto, Tenchi Muyo GXP, InuYasha, just to name a few.
Mostly because I couldn't keep up, they got annoying, or I missed whole episodes to seasons and didn't want to go through them just to figure out what was going on. Sometimes it wouldn't even matter.
Resident Dark Lord (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 07/17/13 | Reply
There have been a few anime shows that I've given up on. I tried watching Claymore once, but it was just a tad too gory and I didn't like the character designs.
I also tried watching Squidgirl once. The premise was amusing, but it just seemed like gag, after gag, after gag. I got fed up with it real quick.
I attempted watching Euraka Seven when it started airing on Toonami, but I couldn't quite get into it. And it didn't help that they moved it to such a late timeslot.
Those are the ones that come immediately to mind. But there are a few others that I've more or less forgotten.
The more I think about it, the more I realize I don't "give up" on shows. I just leave them alone for a little while, come back when I have time. Gargantia of the Venderous Planet, for example. I haven't seen it since Episode 4, but I want to finish it, regardless. I haven't seen all of Great Teacher Onizuka and Durarara!! yet, but they're certainly staying on my to watch list.
So, with that in mind, I will have to say the last show I gave up on was either Casshern Sins or Deadman Wonderland, when both aired on the second coming of Toonami. Both had interesting animation styles, good characters, good musical scores, and kept me entertained for a time. However, it was simply due to Toonami being as late as it is that it started to take a toll on my Sunday schedule. Having to go to church and then maybe heading over to a friend's house was suddenly becoming harder and harder to do. Dropped them, and eventually Toonami, unfortunately. Nothing against them. It just seemed that the situation was not in my favor and they didn't have that wow factor to keep me interested.

The top three, of course. Bleach, Naruto and One Piece. I just couldn't get into One Piece... After Sasuke left, which was very early on in Naruto, it got too sappy for me, so I stopped. As for Bleach, I seriously did enjoy it, but it dragged on for too long.... Especially the bount arc, which was just a filler arc to begin with... Though I must admit the first few seasons of Naruto and Bleach were very good.
Oh! And there was one more I gave up on. Hetalia. Why? It's not due to the anime itself, but the people who I called friends at the time made me give it up. Not because they said to me, "you have to give up watching this," but simply because they themselves were too into it and thus ruined the show for me.
Rozen Maiden season 3 (which has just started airing). I'm a big fan of the anime/manga but the third season compared to the first and the second didn't seemed as amazing as them. The art and the soundtrack of the third season disappointed me, I wish it had the same art as the previous two seasons. I'll just stick to the manga.
I watched the 1st season of Vampire Knight and then lost interest. And I lost interest in Bleach. Bleach use to be my favorite anime, but it just dragged on so long I got bored of it. Now that I know it's finished I want to try to watch it again, but it will be a while before I do.
I gave Sayounara Zetsubou-Sensei a shot, and watched a couple episodes... It's really not horrible and the characters are interesting, but the pacing of the show is very unusual. I found it a bit confusing and difficult to get attached to. :T I might give it another shot, though... maybe it picks up after some more episodes?
Lombax of Earth (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 07/17/13 | Reply
There's been a couple for me, and it's usually the same reason every time. School Rumble, Comic Party Revolution, Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu, Squid Girl... typically, the reason is always related to fanservice or sexual content.
And the thing was, I was told that School Rumble is cleaner than a lot of other shows. Maybe in terms of what's actually shown, but to have one character just keep talking about a certain body part he's obsessed with (yes, show... I get it, he's in high school, so he's your typical perv. Can we move on now?) gets really old, really fast for me. And the said part is that I really, really liked how zany and out-there some of the jokes were (like episode three with the whole bow-and-arrow chase XD)
With Squid Girl, it was Sanae (I think her name was... the girl who's apparently obsessed with Squid Girl herself). I've read that her antics make Kaorin's "crush" on Sakaki look extremely tame.
Whether or not I'll go back to any of these shows remains to be seen, as I've noticed lately that I'm watching/reading/playing things that I couldn't have handled a few years ago. Such is growing up...

yea Valvrave isn't very good.

i would say that an anime show i given up was Naruto. at first, it's was an interesting show to me that i decided to watch it online. the fillers that i have no interest on most of the time and very long episodes slowed me down bit by bit, so i stopped watching it for a year (or maybe it was a few months...). i tried to get back to it but there was a lot of things going on i was extremely behind and forgotten what episode i watched last time. i couldn't skip to a certain episode because i wouldn't know what character, or what ability, or what story they had. so i said forget this and gave up on it.
oh.... and i also gave up on yugioh at the time xexal was on. the story line of the show was a little bit stupid to me. after 5d's that was it.

Pokemon because all the voice actors are changed, they got rid of the good characters, Ash looks totally different. And it got old.
One Piece just because I never got the hype about it. I don't see why it's so great and I hate the character design. But that's just me. Lots of people like both of those.

BOUNCE!

Ooooh, tough one.
