That seems...a little anticlimatic if you ask me. I mean, if you're going to jot down the "king of games" (to plagerize a phrase), why not determine that based on who bought it individually?
Following up on what Hisaishi said. There's nothing wrong with Wii Sports in the top spot now because - as the article itself says - the last record holder was Super Mario Bros. which was also bundled with NES back in the day.
In a way, this bundle record is perfectly okay. I do believe Smash Bros. was packaged at times with the NES. The slight advantage is that Wii Sports was bundled with every Wii. Both of these decisions? Consciously made by Shigeru Miyamoto. Another advantage, however, is the century these two games were made in. You'd believe that a 21st century title can rack up more money than one from the 20th century. I'm just a surprised, though, that something like Halo 2 or Super Smash Brawl didn't get this honor.

well, hoorah for nintendo, but i'm not too sure about this "wii fit" thing, i mean, isn't the whole point of playing video games NOT to exercise? i mean, you're supposed to be lazy!!

It feels like a hollow record break, but I'll still give it credit where it's due.
Kudos, Nintendo. Kudos.
Now make a sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3 already.

Hooray for bundle-packaging with the cheapest, most popular system available!
