I don't want to go into this with great depth for various reasons, but I do think of this as an instance of us having to rethink exactly what we mean when we use the word "social". Online communities of various sorts, whether we notice or acknowledge it, are showing themselves as capable of being "extensions" of society. Lately, what this amounts to and what this means have been some things on my mind.

I've considered this before myself.
Cause really, if something terrible happened to me, I'd want someone to let my friends here know. I'd probably rely on my sister for that then.
I have often thought that I would have my brother know about this site so he could use my account and tell someone for me. Then again I have contact with some people in RL as well so he could send them a letter and let them tell people for him ~ Laughs ~ Alas I have thought about this too much in the past, interesting to read others are catching on to the idea though ~ Smiles ~
You know, I've actually thought about this, especially for here. Luckily, I have at least on RL-friend who could notify people, but man, it's odd to think about.

Yah, I mean, you can't exactly leave a message saying "sorry, i just died, so i won't be on again, bye"...that would be awkward on various levels.

Leaving that info for someone to handle really is a good idea.
