yea, I saw the trailer yesterday, and this movie is gonna be TOTAL CRAP!!! I mean, the movie, from what they showed in the trailer, had NOTHING to do with the anime/manga WHATSOEVER!!!!! So, yeah, I'm just gonna wait for this one to come out on video, so that I can complain about how horrible it was, and get on with my life. The end.
I really never wanted to see DBZ made into a movie....Now "Voltron"...THAT is a movie I want to see made...If they can make "Transformers" then they can make that....

I don't know, all I know is that my parents now want to go watch it, cause they're like "OMG, you've made us watch it fcor so long, now we're going to go watch it" despite that I've pleaded with them not go to seen it.
...yah, I don't trust asian movies, sorry, just because they say it was great....
To be fair to Justin Chatwin, Goku was never really defined ethnically. Really the only thing we ever learned about saiyans is they have a tendency to fight, make their hair gos spiky and stand up, and turn into giant monkeys. They really never needed to have any defining physical characteristics until this movie.
That being said, Justin Chatwin's hair looks stupid and from what I've seen, his acting in this movie is terrible.
Am I the only one with casting issues? The Asian/Caucasian mix puts me off a little because all the names are Asian. I mean, I know it's not a big deal, but it's just this weird inconsistency that bothers me for some reason. Anyway, the point is, Fox is responsible, so of course it's probably going to be crap.
I'm probably just being overly critical because DBZ was my first anime, so I hold it somewhat sacred in my heart.
It's true, though, no one really wanted this. I remember rumors from 6 years ago and it was exciting then, but I think it's more interesting to talk and speculate than to actually see it realized. Like, we thought it'd be cool, but didn't ACTUALLY want it because there's that fear that it'd be ruined.
I'm wondering how much money will be made here in America. And how much of it will be from people like me, who just want to make fun of it, and how much will be from people who genuinely like it.
I think sometimes people forget that for every epic "Hero" or "Red Cliffs" or "Ghengis Khan" in Asia, there's also a "Returner", "Tokyo Raiders" and whatever other generic "Fist of the Hidden Dragon" movie someone decided to churn out.
The article doesn't mention whether people actually liked the movie or not, but it's worth noting that Asia makes just as much box-office winning dreck as North America does. Don't be too surprised if someone over there actually liked it or somethin'. Hard to fathom, I know, but not impossible.

@Shadow Vampiress:
Personally, I'm not entirely sure if there will be any from people who genuinely like it.

I'll be there opening day, just waiting to throw something if it gets TOO crappish. Some manga shouldn't be adapted. this is one of them.

Hmm, I guess that many people wanted to watch it to make fun of it. *laughs*
Oy, I love Dragonball and I hope the younger crowd don't take this as what Dragonball is about.

Oh I'm full prepared to accept such a possibility. Especially after that damn horrible Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie hitting America's #1 spot.

@Miss Anonymous:
The one review I've read seems to indicate the latter.

The movie is either really good or so craptacular that people love mocking it.
