The only guy I recognize is Aasif Mandvi from 'The Daily Show' and he seems too comedic for such a role. But I guess maybe they're shooting more for appearances. I guess I don't much care; I'm somewhat indifferent to Avatar so i'm not gonna see the movie. By the way, in all this casting, is there any word on the actual movie plot? Cause I'm pretty sure that's what's actually important here.
I just REALLY hope that the movie doesn't suck. I mean, the Death Note movies were pretty good, so not all adaptations are suckish.
Again, let's hope they don't screw it up!

Y'know, ignoring the part where Zuko is the most morally conflicted character of the whole series who does join the good guys by the end. And ignoring his uncle, pretty much the most morally righteous character of the series second only to Aang (and sometimes even Aang pushes it), who literally played the "angel on one shoulder" to Zuko in the second book.
At least he's working with the original creators. I'm wary... but I'm going to trust M. Night.
The Middle Eastern Fire Nation is going to be interesting. As long as they do Toub up right. Iroh and Sokka are my favorite and my best.
I really hope this turns out too. The potential is AWESOME!!! And he's planning on making three movies. With all three writers so in love with the project, it's gotta be something worth watching. If not, you can just picture it like a whole different story. That's what I did with LOTR. Good Luck, M. Night!

Filling in more roles won't convince to me pay 10 bucks to see a half-arsed movie attempt at the Avatar series. I just HATE movie adaptions. They will be the death of the movie industry...oh wait the industry is dead already (thanks Uwe Boll).
Yes, let's make the heroes white and all the bad guys Middle Eastern and South Asian. I can't wait to see all the kids on the playground playing "The Last Airbender."
Wait, they're casting Ozai? The guy hardly ever appears onscreen until book 3. They really might as well just have a random camera guy throw on a robe and stick his hand on Zuko's face. That's about the only important scene Ozai gets in book 1.
See, this is starting to get interesting now . . . they're more specifically casting South Asian and Middle Eastern as Fire Nation, while this also makes for the very first "asian-asian" casting for the Earth Kingdom (a kingdom that hasn't been officially cast too much as of yet - but they didn't feature in Book 1 very much).
It's interesting because even if they're not going "Chinese" with the Fire Nation, they are still staying consistent in their version.
But I shouldn't stand in the way of people's complaints for changing things so now it'll suck . . . carry on.

Yeah, plot is normally a good point for these things. I mean, if it has no point, then why even make it, besides making more money?

I sure hope this movie does well...it will be really disappointing if it doesn't.
