but, if they have more money, it won't help. We're learning about this in Economics now, and if you have TOO much money in your country at once, it will lose value until it will have absolutely NO value at all. And we don't want that, now do we? (It will be like before the Third Reich in Germany, when all of the Germans lost their money because it lost all of its value. Their economy wasn't stable, and so it was a prime target for a madman to take over) man, I REALLY feel like typing today!

Japan's government is a democracy, like ours, but is a little like Canada (has a Prime Minister *thank you Gov't class!*)
And, on the REAL subject, I have to agree with you siding with Mr. Hatoyama on this. I mean, Japan may be doing better than us, seeing as how they have the anime/manga industry to kinda fall back on, creating some jobs, but their economy is relatively bad. But, on the flip side, Taro Aso could do a great thing by building this museum, because
1) not only would it create jobs for his country in the construction business, but
2) the people working in said museum would have jobs as well.
He's probably just trying to create jobs. Wait! They're temporary? You mean construction won't go on forever?! *sarcasm intended* They're just boosting the japanese economy by creating more ways for people to spend money! That'll help!....blah blah
This just sounds so familiar, but hey. Listen to the public once in a while guys!
I think the idea is good. However, I am an otaku, so my opinion is of course going to be very biased. Maybe they should build it later on though, when the world's economy is in better shape.

Maybe now is not the best time for the museum to be made, but as everyone else has said before me, I don't know much about Japans current economic status

I like this idea. It might not revitalize the economy but it would definately attract tourism. Which in the long run, if more tourists come, they'd have to spend money, and even if its foreign money, its still money added to Japanese banks. I'd say that the people should just deal with it. At least its not going towards their own wallets.
I don't understand economics much, nor do I know about Japan's current economic state, but I have to say, this could be a good idea, depending how the Japanese see it.
Well, I don't know much of Japan's economic condition, but, as a person who's about to be paying for a couple of billion dollars that Obama so wisely <sarcasm> has invested, I would be a bit angry myself.
Not because I dislike anime (and I certainly don't condone him ragging on the Prime Minister, or anyone in general), but because there is probably a lot better ways that money could be spent or invested. I realize that anime is certainly more important in Japan, economically than America, but the point remains that I'm sure there's something that could be improved.
I'm not aware of Japan's current economic situation, but if the public is concerned, I figure there's reason to be.
Though it may be a case similar to Swine Flu, where they're taking the valid concern and blowing it way out of proportion. Also, it's basic politics to find anything your opponent does grounds for accusing them of furthering their own interests.
That said, the tour guides will be in French maid uniforms. Totally calling it.

i cant honestly add input to this because of a few reasons. really, this is in japan, and i am in USA.... so there is a serious lack of information that we can get on whats going on with this, and thats notjust talkign about what the government, whehter right or wrong, will or will not tell the public.
also, there is no such place of either kind here where i live and where i can get to at this current time, so i couldnt give an opinion on either type of place either. really tho, this just sounds like a political argument being used to promote a political standpoint and gain some or certain ppls eye and approval.

I gotta agree with, erm... Representative? Senator? Y'know, I'll just use "Mister."
I gotta agree with Mr. Hatoyama in some respects. While anime and manga is one of the many things which Japan is best known for by fans, fanatics, and otaku (from least to most extreme if you're curious) in much of the Western nations. True that this will be like any other museum and it will cover a wide variety of the art, but is it needed right now?
Though I'm not sure how badly the rest of the world is affected economically to the US recession, I have a vague idea that much of Japan has a sizable unemployment rate and doing projects like these will most likely aid in their economic troubles if any. I do know that their education and health services don't need as much work as America's does, though I'm sure that some money could go to better uses.
I don't have a great enough knowledge of the way the Japanese government opperates, though I'd wager it's the same as most parliamentary governments.
