I agree that as a wallpaper there is FAR too much white space. Personally I prefer darker toned wallpapers, I find them easier to look at. However, this isn't supposed to be used as it is in the wallpaper, it is used as a banner in my world and I had to make the background white so it would blend in. I didn't bother to add anything to the white edge of the wallpaper version, as it wouldn't be used in my banner anyway ^^
What you did do is very cute. I like the image you chose and the presentation. The problem, though, is the massive amount of white space. Sometimes that isn't an issue. Here, however, it's too much white space. I think you could have done more in the border/margin/whatever-you-choose-to-call-it.
I still think this is adorable and I like it. It just feels unfinished.
