Yeah. I'm probably going to wait a while before continuing, though, because I've been watching the dub, and I don't want to switch languages because "Madara"'s voice is sexy probably the most impactful voices I've ever heard.
I know in real life, the mangaka intended for the Akastuki to be more like monsters (hence Kisame, Zetsu and Kakuzu), which is why Kisame is a shark-man. But in regards to within the story... Iunno. He's a shark-man because why not.
You know what's funny? I just watched that part recently. Good thing I'm not alone in being 150+ episodes behind. I felt similar to you when they gave his backstory. The only thing they didn't explain is why he's a shark-man. That's always bothered me.
