Actually, the one on the phone, Subaru, is a boy and Hokuto is a girl. They seriously look alike and like girls though. Subaru is actually mistaken for one quite a few times in the manga *haha* I actually bought the manga series when Tokyopop released it years ago, although I searched for it a long time before that. It's definitely one of CLAMP's best works, and I always recommend it to those who like their stuff. Actually, it connects right to X/1999 too, which makes it even more interesting (though you probably already knew that ^^;)
I actually do all of my wallpapers through the GIMP program, as it's the one I'm most comfortable with. I've learned how to do a lot of stuff through it, although I'm still learning a lot too. I was able to use it this time though to try and blend the natural colors over where the calendar on this picture was, and for the most part I got it. Like I said, I'm still learning things too.
Anyway, glad you like the wallpaper and I hope I covered what you wanted to know!
