So I've been reading this manga recently called "Vinland Saga", which is about Vikings in the early eleventh century. It is a highly graphic piece in the violence category, so I wouldn't reccomend the squeemish or small children to read it.
The character here is named Thorfinn and he is the main central character. He watched his father die in a duel when he was six and ever since, is out to have a duel with the man who killed his father (for revenge). There's action, loads of violence, hard-core warrior stuff and even a girly-prince. I think he's over that now. It makes me glad.
Vinland Saga currently runs in the monthly magazine Afternoon and is written/drawn by Yukimura Makoto.
