Possibly one of my favourite shows ever, witty, fast, addictive and clever and created one of the best characters in television history, Gene Hunt (not that I didn't love Sam Tyler, and lets face it if John Simm hadn't been cast for this he probably wouldn't have been considered for the role of The Master).

If anyone has seen Ashes to Ashes, Gene Hunt carries that, I loath Alex Drake and her painful overacting and tedious references to them all being her imagination. One of my favourite scenes in that series actually involved her....just unconcious.
