Here's part one of my entry for the Anime Show challenge. The challenge asked for me to do a wallpaper of my favorite anime show. I'm one of those people who has more than one favorite of something. My mom was the same way (which made it very difficult for me to figure out what gifts to get her for Christmas, Mother's Day, and her birthday). So I thought about it for awhile, and I came to the conclusion that there is one series that really opened me up to the world of anime, Sailor Moon.
Let me set the stage for you. The year was 2001, and back then we didn't get Cartoon Network in the little town where I live (we do now, but that's not important to the story). Anyway, I wasn't really aware of a lot of anime other than Pokemon (and I think Digimon and this one Transformers series). But in the first two weeks of Spetember one of the local networks was airing part of Cartoon Network's Toonami lineup in the afternoons. And one show in that lineup was Sailor Moon.
At first I was resistant to watching it, as I had heard that it wasn't exactly a series aimed at guys. But I broke down and watched one episode and was simply blown away. That was when I had really gotten into anime. Of course back then if you asked me I wouldn't admit to liking Sailor Moon. In school if you were a heterosexual male who admitted to liking Sailor Moon you were opening yourself up to name calling, beatings, and quite possibly a few other unpleasant things. So I kept that interest dark for a few years. Of course everyone knew that I liked Yu-Gi-Oh! at least. Enjoy.
