The Broken Looking Glass 
Okay, so I had a real debate in my head since late last night of whether I wanted to submit this one or not. It's not that I don't like it. I just haven't been as confident about it. I will say now that this was one of the hardest wallpapers that I've ever done in a lot of ways. I had found the scan early on and fell in love with it, but rendering it was so much harder then I'd ever thought that it would be. I did my best on it, but I'm still on the fence about it.
Next was figuring out just what to do with it. I wanted to go with the blue color scheme to compliment the render because it just fit it so well. I started out thinking blue lace and bokeh, but couldn't quite make it fit like I wanted. Then I ended up thinking of the roses, because with the way the characters looked, they just felt right. I also added in the bokeh to give that a little more of a "magic" feeling to it. But even then, I still felt like something was missing.
Thus comes the broken glass. I thought about this when I thought about Alice through the Looking Glass. Plus, I considered Gray Ringmarc's background, and it just clicked for me about broken glass around them like he broke it(this was after an hour of saying "what else can I do????") Yes, imagine the dramatic voice of desperation in wanting to make this work *sighs* The glass actually fit pretty well, although I had to be careful about lightening it too much because then it couldn't be seen. I also added some blur within it so give it more of a glass look (or at least I tried).
Anyway, I hope that this fits the challenge well enough. Like I said, I really wanted to do a wallpaper of one of these characters, and this is what I could come up with. Hopefully I've done this beautiful series some justice ^^;
