Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied isn't my favorite anime with all the blood,gore, and sadness but it has done a big part in my anime social life.it was my very first anime and im deeply grateful for it.But the title doesnt make any sence.whos elfen? i never heard one person in the story named elfen.but the story all falls together in the end.thats why i love it!
