I spent all day today writing a poem.
I put a lot of my heart into it, tell me what you think:
Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?

My first hour with Final Fantasy 13 was disappointing
The next five hours were wonderful, I can see a lot of genius in the game design
When you're creating something, the hard part isn't adding more and more stuff, it's in being really good at removing stuff and distilling what you want to do in as few parts as possible
With FF13 they managed to remove a ton of RPG elements while improving upon what worked before and so far I'm loving it
It really is like a long, seamless anime mixed with lots of strategic thinking
Also good news, since the game won't have much replay value, given how linear it is, it'll be an easy sell afterward to recoup the cost!
I've been thinking a lot about the main page of our various sites.
I identified a few problems:
(1) Doesn't change frequently enough since the most active thumbnails get "locked in"
(2) Doesn't have anything beyond the 16 most popular
(3) Makes it hard for newer members to get anywhere near the front page of the site
After a lot of thought, I came up with the following proposal:
(1) Feature a mix of both most active AND most recent works
(2) Emphasize both expiring challenges (so people can quickly submit for them) and most active challenges
(3) Emphasize the days top members, first-time members, and top categories
Once I had the elements in mind, I took a first-crack at a design:
