Well it's nice to hear that it's NOT all bad .-. People kept saying the game was too linear and that it was tough on gameplay and all except graphics o3o I love the graphics and I've already seen some gameplay. I want to play iiitttt ~ Well as for the first hour, I can kind of see what you're saying. I saw 15 minutes of the footage and yeah, sometimes intros are too long. As for FFXII, I would say that was one long heck of an intro @_@ but I kind of enjoyed playing it... Now the 100 level castle was just going too far D'8 LOL And yet the beginning with vaan's brother and all was pretty sad D'8 lols But anywho, I want the game and all the other ones :| ~ I don't have a PS3 but in the future, if I get a job, then I'll buy myself one and the game *A* ~ I think FFXIII is really meant to be a game that is like an anime since I've seen so much storyline put into it.. Hopefully, if they make another one in the future (lol), they'll even out gameplay and story line ~ |3 As much I love their storylines, I want to play too as long as I can >=O ~ and with more freedom on controls -not just pressing A all the time >>; lol-

I agree. They definately hit this one out of the park after the big disapointment of twelve. But I'm back into the FF world and loving it. The story goes by slow but they took allot of time to develope the character's personalities and their interactions with each other. About half way through it now and hooked.

"...since the game won't have much replay value, given how linear it is..."
I don't know about FFXIII in particular, but I would argue that a truly great game would have lots of replay value despite being linear. If I can't enjoy a game multiple times, there's no way I would consider it one of my favorites.
Great. I spend a chunk of money on a game that I'll only play once and isn't even an RPG? It's more a show?
And then I sell it back? I don't even keep it?
Replay value is huge for me. If I don't feel like playing it more than once after I played it already, I'll only get it if I can get it free. Battlefront has awesome replay value. Rainbow Six has awesome replay value. Borderlands and Mass Effect have awesome replay value. Even freaking StarFox 64 has awesome replay value.
Fable had none. FFX didn't even have finishing value. So if there's no replay value, I'm really not sure I want in on it. I mean, if it's a great story then sure I'll want to replay it to go through the story again. But isn't that replay value?
I felt the same way. The first hours were disappointing; the story was confusing and the gameplay was hard to get use to, but after half of the first disc, I was really enjoying it. The graphics are just too beautiful (specially Snow and Serah's escape on the plane-car thingy in the second disc). :D
The upgrade system is the only thing that bugs me about the game. =| Don't think I'll replay it since the game is so long, but I don't think I'll sell it either.
By the way, I'm not sure if I'm missing something but the date on your editor's note on the front page is wrong, if that is a date. . . I don't think it's the 15th of March yet. . . hm.

@Kastom:
Exactly. If it's simple then they'd call it masturbating.
Oh wait. Fanboys. What am I thinking.

Removing and distilling is not what real life is like though. Making things streamlined and simple always feels so fake to me.
I'd rather see in shades of gray.

@Michiyo Shimizu:
I shall kindly direct you towards FFVI Advance for both great gameplay and story. No need to wait who knows how many years for FFXV. ^_^
(Yes, FFXV. FFXIV is another MMORPG like FFXI.)

The only time I sell a game is if I didn't like it. XD Otherwise I end up playing it again. Maybe not immediately but eventually.
