I still stand by like Elves wanting comment boxes I can have next to the work. Like her I am also one of the people who likes to reply to things a pragraph at a time since my memory isn't the best so I forget most of what people say in long posts.
Glad to see someone else likes the idea of more customization in the portfolios as well. Still hoping for that logging out problem to be fixed as well so I can submit things more and know people can subscribe if they like them. It feels a touch redundant doing anything like that right now.
Oh yea and I am completely behind being able to delete more than on PM at a time. I have tonnes of old ones I want to remove sometime when it becomes a touch less time consuming! Thank you for all the hard work so far and I look forward to seeing the new features and the removal of old problems!
Worlds and otakuites floating around could be helped by creating a worlds listing, like the members listing. But looking at all those numbers... I don't think listing "all" of the worlds would be a good idea. Probably end up like the members listing for top subscribed or something.
I figured you had plenty of people signing up and online at any given time. After all, keyword searching via Google with words like anime result in theOtaku being listed among the top ten results. :p That doesn't happen if a site isn't getting traffic.
Anyway, I'm still in the same spot as before, the news is what I miss the most. My artistic side as it were is not in graphic arts at all so the almost exclusive attention given to fan art, wallpapers, e-cards, fan manga/comics... etc. Is a turn off.
It's part of why I hang out at OtakuBoards instead, that to me is a lot more interesting. I'm here for friends more than anything and now that we have next to no news at all, I don't even bother with the main page other than to briefly glance at the official updates section.
So... for those members who liked the news... that's what would help bring people back. Also, I like Aaryanna's suggestion, of it being it's own portal with a page of nothing but current news updates.
Well then, my suggestions are to open up more coding for Worlds, like more BB code or even a way to tag color in the comment boxes. ^_^ I'm sure there is a lot more that can be done. Just as I'd love to see more color choices for themes too.
My original suggestion to revive the news and quizzes still stands. It would be pretty cool if there was a portal just for news that took you to a seperate page that was nothing but news updates. One that looked just like the main page only it would be a row of news updates just like the current page is rows of different art based on hugs and such.
Oh and I hope you realize that some of the drama is because as much as I enjoy this site, I'm not interested in tons of new features and stuff if it means more trouble for you than it's worth. I've already been impressed at how consistent you've been with adding new things on a regular basis.
The stats seem to be going up but comments on everyone's posts seem to keep going down. I get more comments on myO then I do here...perhaps it depends on people's reasons for joining this site to begin with.
Honestly, I never look at news, quizzes, or newsletters. I come here to visit my friends and to check out their artworks. That's all.
I still have those 2 suggestions I'd LOVE to see get fixed...one being able to delete more than one GB entry at a time. I have over 100 messages in my PM box I'd love to get rid of but seriously...don't want to spend the time to delete them one by one.
The other being able to shrink down this comment box without it closing all together and deleting everything you had written. Like how it used to be...I am a person who likes to give thorough comments and tend to read people's posts a paragraph at a time or would like to go back and re-read something after I started typing...but can't do that or else I'd loose everything I had written. Same goes with I'm commenting on artworks or wallpapers...I like to go back and re-look at things so I can give them detailed responses.
I'm also still have the problem where randomly, people's site pictures and fan arts and wallpapers wont load. Everything else loads including the ads...but just their images wont. I know other's are having this issue too and don't know what's causing it.

Heh guess we did sort of dramatize in that last post huh? Gomen nasai.
As for news that stuff is always good. I like to hear what's going on in the anime world. But the only thing I truely want to return (and I've said this before) is the monthly manga update. I remember when it used to be weekly but somehow went to monthly. I rely heavily on that news so I know when to schedule trips to Salisbury (because of gas prices I don't go there as often as I used to). Please bring it back!

p.s. though this is a little while back do you remember your post on Elton Brown? Well at the time I had no clue who that was but yesterday I was watching an Iron Chef America marathon and I saw him. I felt sort of stupid too when I realized who he was because I watch Iron Chef all the time =P
If I can suggest one minor tweak. If I don't have Fan Art, Fan Words, etc, can you make it so those sections don't show up in my Portfolio when other people view it? I think users would rather have that instead of it saying "Empty". Thats all, thanks.
-Bringing back news, it was good to come around the site and read about some new news relating to anime and other stuff like that, so I think it would be great to have that back.
-Adding more features to Worlds, and a bit of freedom as to how many pictures and videos we can put in one post. If you don't want people to use HTML, I'd be good to have a least a bit more freedom with the use of BBCode. Just a suggestion... ^^
In some ways I think we now have to work backwards. The controversy of moving to Worlds from myOtaku remains, but at least with Worlds, there's a more useable platform sitting there for us to work from.
Therefore, I think it's reasonable to suggest that we can continue to improve Worlds and make it more feature-rich (in other words, give it the elements that made myOtaku work so well, but do so in a sustainable way).
And with this shiny new platform I'm sure we can do wonderful things that myOtaku users never dreamed of. I look forward to that.

I'd say another thing that could help would be giving The Writers Bloc a permanent home, to make it as easy as possible for people to find if they want help with Fan Words. Right now, it's just floating around in theO ether.
Actually, the newsletter's irregularity of release has come up in some conversations I've had recently too. Many of the sites I subscribe to e-mail content from issue something on a monthly basis. If you could put together a format that would support a monthly release in terms of content and variety, I think the newsletter would gain some momentum. Time will tell if I'm insane for making this offer, but if you need someone who's not busy to help out on that front, I'm not hard to reach.

We had a newletter? I guess it hasn't been sent out in ages because I didn't know about it.
The statistics are good. Let's keep working, there are tons of hidden otakus out there.

Hope that helped.
