o_O But don't all fan words have a link at the bottom where you favorite or hug them that goes right to the person's world? I'm not sure if I completely understand what you mean by combining them.

I don't know where to report this, but every time I try to submit a wallpaper it says that I need to upload a file. I've tried ten times now and I do not know what it wrong. Please help!
I like the idea of finding interesting posts that aren't published. I have a friend by the name of Yamchaa around here who doesn't have publish posts but I'm definitely sure that others would probably love to stumble by his posts of different parts of fandom. I also like the idea of typing something in the keyword/tags thing and finding worlds about the same thing I like, it would be great to find someone else who has a super sentai world, we'd probably become good friends real quick. As for the published words to be on the world I guess it's better to leave that as is.
It would have its pros and cons. Pro: stumbling upon others would be good. Con: it's a little bit inconvenient. If it would link to the world, but the one you clicked on is the first you see, it should be okay. I would rather not click on one then have to go find it.

I think the setup we have right now is fine. The Fan Words look more professional by themselves. If they're just in with a bunch of other posts about complete nonsense it makes things look a little messy and cluttered. Maybe we should have two different search engines. One for Fan Words and one for WORLDS? That way, if you're looking for something on Naruto with a little depth you can search Fan Words, and if you just want to see who else out there has an obsession for Naruto you can search WORLDS.
That would work for me. Ever since V V alot of my friends gave up and left. I'd love to find some other people who like the JRock bands I do and this would make that real easy for me. As of now if I type in 'GazettE' or 'Miyavi' all I get is fanart and stuff like that. But fanart doesn't really help me in knowing why they like the band, who's their favorite member, things of that nature. That's what I'd really like to know about a person, not whether they can draw Ruki's latest hairstyle perfectly XD
At the moment, I find the idea of a "hybrid site" to be vague. It almost appears to collapse the Fan Words into the Worlds, which tend to have formats of their own nature (and a very diverse nature, as it is).
I like the way the Fan Words fit with theOtaku's layout. There's a nice consistency achieved among the Fan Words. When I want to read a Fan Word, I look in that section; I don't want to jump from World to World, where the only thing that they have in common with articles is the alphabet they use. I do have to admit that most of the article writers tend to have one World reserved for their articles, while they dedicate another World to their personal lives and such. Nevertheless, I prefer the current system.
Sorry, I may be off-topic here, but speaking of Worlds reminded me of something:
I noticed that there're a lot of Worlds categorised under anime titles (e.g. some Naruto fanclub World categorised under Naruto). But when I go to the main Naruto section, it says "No Worlds yet". Is it a bug or something?
And btw this applies to all titles, not just Naruto, lol :P
The "Worlds" link on the main page is a quick access to official and partner content. It doesn't get regular members involved. A hybrid site that not only covers "syndicated" Fan Words, "Official" and "Partner" content, but also non-syndicated postings of regular members might be the way to go to get more people looking at more Worlds posts.
I think for quality/presentation reasons, syndicating content to the "theOtaku layout" is important. The World post is linked in said publications as it is, and content authors get the "hugs" and "favorites" feedback that's provided as it is with the other content (cards, wallpapers, etc), feedback which won't come from direct links to the World postings. Since there's no way to favorite Worlds posts, direct linking Fan Words doesn't seem like it'll give the content authors a good scope of feedback numbers to work with. It also creates inconsistent presentation to the viewer as well.
I think the main concern would just be on the "submission" format of published works, where you can hug and favourite them as well as track their hits.
Umm... let get this straight, you want the fan words link go directly to the world? I think it is better for those approved fanwords to remain as is.
I hope this is related. I think the search function for non-published world post should be fixed instead. That way if someone would want their work searched, and tags are enabled, it will show in the searches. As of now, only Fanwords are search-enabled.
Besides, isn't there a link at the bottom of the Fan Words where the original text was from?
A Worlds Directory could also be nice. Probably off-topic though.
I might have missed something here, but that is what I have so far.

@Driffter:
You get that error if you try to submit a wallpaper without submitting the first (required) resolution size

The hybrid system is fine right now, but a little more exposure wouldn't be that bad. I guess it's a coin toss.

I think the current system works well enough, since there are already guidelines about what else from a world rates as publishable.
