No, the problem with the features not coming back is that we were never given a concrete reason.
Have you already forgotten when it was explained that fanwords got less than 1% of the sites actual traffic? Not only that, but that it was a pain code wise since it was far more complicated than the rest of the site?
As much as people want it back, you can't give over a huge chunk of your time for a section of the site that doesn't get anywhere near enough traffic to warrant it.
It's not fair and it's not fun, but you do have to give the sections that do bring in revenue the main attention unless you want to go under.
Actually, Nehszriah, Adam apparently wants to remove the fanfiction section in Advanced Anime as well, based on this statement from one of their more prominent members:
Hinatachan64: "I'm curious though what specific sections of AA are being considered for removal.”
*ElvenAvari: Fanfiction, Adam says that even if 10x more people used it, it still wouldn’t be worth keeping. I’m trying to fight this with everything I’m worth.
So from the looks of things, even if we, as theO members, agree to have the Fan Words transferred to AA, it might not prosper anyway since there doesn't seem to be an interest in the part of the staff to keep that feature. And yes, you can also see that they have their own sentiments as well with this idea.
You are still being incredibly vague with your intentions and oxymoronic with your goals. A merger between AA and theO doesn't seem like it would go anywhere. Don't bring your issues with AA over here. If you took on a second website without having the availability and vision to handle both, then that is your problem.
I’m not gonna sugar coat it. You’re being extremely rude. Just because Adam’s goals don’t match what you think they should be, it doesn’t make them ‘oxymoronic’.
What you are doing is proposing that you merge a creepy version of OB with theO. How is that supposed to work out?! All most of the AA people want is their forums. How are they really supposed to help out with our stuff when their natural habitat is a message board? Easy: they don't. Some might, that is possible, and some of them may be very nice people, but it's a big shift for them and I don't know if they'll make it well.
So they’re creepy and we shouldn’t even give them a chance cause they might not make it?
Let me give a real-world example of this: the current state of the Catholic church in the U.S. is not good. While the nation has never been big on Catholicism, the current number of registered parishioners is shrinking rapidly. In the Detroit Archdiocese, there have been a rash of parish mergers and very few of these mergers make it past the five-year mark. The remaining people from either parish want control of the new one, personalities clash and bad things happen until they can't carry on any longer and the congregation goes its separate ways. My current parish is going to go through a merger soon; the very thought of being in a parish merger gave my priest a mental breakdown and he had to stepdown.
tl;dr? Mergers don't always promote livelihood.
Brother site does not = merger.
You say you want to make a site that's not as complicated as theO, yet you say you want to revamp this other place into basically a copycat of everything text-based ever... including old theO features! You take away our stuff saying it's too complicated or it doesn't have enough traffic and then decide to give it to this site despite the fact we're the ones who want this stuff?! We don't even have a fan fiction section and it's better than the fan fiction section at this other place! There is something extremely wrong with this picture! [insert rage!gif here]
So basically this boils down to you seem to think that Adam can only put those kind of features at theOatku instead improving them for a site that already has them. A site that he took on so it wouldn’t be shut down and their members left with nothing. And this is your reaction to him wanting to give them a tiny bit of his time? Especially since it’s much simpler over there and wouldn’t require the work that theOtaku would?
It's been very difficult to attempt to wrap my thought processes around all this. I'm absolutely flabbergasted as to how you are thinking about this as a good thing. We are totally at odds with this site. I don't want to rag on you Adam, but please listen to us when we say that this is not a good idea and that this will fix nothing. We are willing to help our site. We don't need a merger. A merger would be detrimental to our goal of surviving as a niche in the vast entanglement we call the World Wide Web.
I’m flabbergasted that you seem to think that what needs to be done is only how you think it should be done, without much consideration for the one who has worked hard keeping this site running inspite of the decline in the anime industry.
I’m all for open opinions and such but I really think you need to be politer about it. I bring things to Adam’s attention so they can be considered, not so people can come in here and bash him because they don’t like the answer to not having features they want back.

This is kind of...well, genuinely just sort of derogatory towards us and the other site.
How is it derogatory to openly admit you don't want to work with another complicated site? That's about as derogatory as admitting you don't want another essay to write since you most likely don't have the time.
In the end it is your choice, but it's a little unkind to just leave us hanging.
Leave you all hanging? You all have been told, more than once, that the features and options you want aren't returning. There is no hanging, you all have had your answer for years now and don't want to accept it.
Okay, so you told us kinda what's going on. You are still being incredibly vague with your intentions and oxymoronic with your goals. Let's see if I got it right. All this time, the brother site was AdvancedAnime.com? Wow, that sure complicates things. I wonder what the Occupy movement is thinking at this point.
Since this is the case, I really think that the suggestions for the brother site should be left to those who have been members of the AA community. I don't think it's proper for members of theO to have a huge influence in deciding the direction of AA, unless if they are also members of the latter site. And from what I'm reading in AA, they appear to have a lot of good suggestions there that can be put to use.
And I gotta say, I find it interesting thtat they also have the same issues with Fan Fiction getting removed as this site has with the Fan Words being phased out.
