If my memory serves try keeping the booth one base color and than make a sign for your game with high contrasting colors that can read from a distance. Because what hope to see is people trying to read it from across the aisle. If you have some female friends that can learn about your game (and hopefully be good saleswomen) ask them to come help. And if you have a little swag you can do an hourly lottery, trivia contests for the game, or something like test the game or try and find my glitches. An interactive booth in someway. If you can get a little business card or postcard size card artwork to give away with the game info on it that would be good. Because even if people have fun with playing it they may have trouble remembering the name once they step away.

Cosplay the character of your game, and hand out fliers.
But finding a hot chick in a bikini never hurts too.
Find something totally not connected to your game, like a Megaman cosplaayer, and ask him to hang out with you at your booth and do the macarena for a while. For whatever reason, people appreciate the humor when you sell something with a total non-sequitor.
Perhaps you could rent a parrot for a few hours, just to squak at people. Animals draw a crowd, but are probably not allowed in the con hall.
Perhaps with your connections, you could let a few known people try out your game, and ask them to push it at their panels.
If all else fails, just put up a bunch of theotaku.com banners that look like the banner across the top of the page. It's colorful and stylish, will draw people's attention, and any member of the site would CERTAINLY like to meet you face to face.
You need to sell YOU. Your game is just an added bonus.
I don't know either as I have yet to go to a con. I'm sure though you could probably talk an otaku or two into getting into a fancy cosplay get up though and yelling at people to go to your booth...that or Ace's idea.
I've never been to a con, so I wouldn't know. :( Lol, but I agree with ace...haha, you please all with that. XD I would be attracted to free things though. Free gifts like bags or something...I don't know. Good luck though! I'm sure you'll figure it out. >D
Hm...At Arkansas Anime Festival, they usually have a volunteer going around telling the con-goers, "Hey, stop at [booth name] and tell them that [volunteer's name] sent you!"
Colorful decorations generally tend to catch the eye, too, no matter if you're at a con or if you're just randomly walking around downtown.
Perhaps you could bring a stereo or a computer and blast some catchy anime tunes?
Flashy lights (if you're allowed to have them) grab the attention, too.
Anything that plays on at least one of the 5 senses (like the bright colors for sight or the loud music for hearing) is good for grabbing random passers-by.

I have no idea. oO Something flashy would attract attention, or having someone in costumes handing out fliers is good too. Good luck!

Do something flashy (that fits a no-money budget plan, of course); some bright colors, a well decorated display, etc.
Or follow Alexa's advice. Either or.

Women and Yaoi.
Do both.
Then tell me how on earth you managed to combine the two.
