It will eventually be a kind of creative adventure guidebook!

Intent

Forbidden types of magic, it seems, are not forbidden because they are dark but because those in charge of the Goht dimension and surrounding realms are afraid of what they can do.

But they're Dark Magic, the authorities will say! Certain kinds of magic are inherently evil. If left unchecked, they will turn the perpetrator evil, too. But this is not exactly the case.

Sure, some might seem more evil than others, depending on your definition of evil. The real defining factor in the effects of magic is intent.

Which makes everything very complicated, doesn't it? Because performing one act of magic that is beneficial to one entity may be harmful to another, and short-term effects may be negated by long-term effects. The user is not always aware that the effects of the magic used has an impact on them and so anyone using magic must be careful to use spells that achieve their desired result with the least amount of harm caused (ah, but what they define as harm might not be the same to another) while achieving the desired effect on the caster as well.

Protective charms and talismans may be used to prevent this, but the art of choosing, sanctifying, and preparing them is magic in itself, and so one must be careful to choose charms that do not clash, and so on.

There's been talk of starting up a school of magic, an academy for young adventurers wanting to better understand such things...but such a school would have to be kept secret from Goht authorities in this area...
