More world building it seems. Which is fascinating, cause having to keep magic a secret from Goht authorities must mean it's forbidden. Although, I like how magic could affect another person in a different way instead of the person using it. Very cool concept that isn't done often. :)
I should! I'm going to make edits to that post so that it takes place in a different dimension. Ooh, what if the girl from the Goht dimension turns out to be a traveler so that she eventually ends up in that new dimension? And then she leads a rebellion because she has that defiant energy.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
I had thought about the Goht Authorities as a kind of orchestrating factor to the state of the dimension, perpetuating mindless existence for their own gain...what they stand to gain is yet undetermined, but they don't want people thinking too much and they definitely don't want people straying off their predetermined paths because then they can't be controlled and might begin to question the Authorities. So they've increasingly used their own magic to enhance the natural sinkhole-like structure of the Goht dimension, only other strong magic could clash with it and the magic used could begin to alter the user. So the authorities play on a natural fear of "dark" or "evil" magic, and they claim that any strong magic is evil magic and will make the user evil. Whether or not this is true is unknown to most Goht citizens, who've been sucked into the "sinkhole" so far that this kind of fear conditioning is almost completely unneeded with them.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Well, that's what the authorities say to prevent people from attempting to learn types of magic that they can't control. In addition, some types of magic have a bad reputation but it's all about intent, which is complicated.
The authorities are insistent that evil is a very tangible thing and it can be physically suppressed. They insist.
Sure, I'd like to hear about the minor court of Galaxy Judges.
