Then Wanderer seems to be looking out for their own selfish goals. I'm not sure why it'd be a bad thing for Isla to understand the universe better. This must mean this is before Isla has encountered the demon, cause she seems demon free at the moment.
Furthermore, a lot of this is really well written. It's easy to be enchanted by this story in particular, cause it has me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next!
But eventually they do have to start over, as one eventually has to replace a computer. It's a pain, and so they basically try to put it off as long as possible, working with the old 'computer' for as long as they can.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
So that "universe reset" could be either a fun challenge or a real pain in the ass, depending on the Lore Creator's perspective. If they tended to get too attached to living entities/aspects of the world, the resets would likely make them sad.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I'm still figuring out where I want to take this interaction, but I think it'd be funny to go with Wanderer being less of a "benevolent guardian figure" in Isla's eyes and more of a "YOUR CRYPTIC MESSAGES ARE DISTRACTING ME. GIVE ME REAL INSTRUCTIONS OR GO AWAY" kind of relationship. I think Isla will develop affection for Wanderer if they do meet, but only after she gets over her initial anger at Wanderer for not just saving the forest by rewriting reality the easy way while Wanderer debates over explaining why she's reluctant to do that.
Do Lore Creators 'die' when the Universe resets, by the way? Or do they stay the same? Or come back as new incarnations? You said in a comment before that they 'forget' so does that mean they become kind of like babies that have to figure out how to run the worlds all over again?

Oh, ok. So basically we like to see new stories arise from the different ways that living beings can learn and grow?
