This was SO helpful! Thank you so much for posting this! I really want to become an author (either that or a manga-ka) and this really helped me to know what to expect.
I am currently writing a short book, but im not sure if im going to want to get it published, seeing how its not going very well right now. But hey, im a young girl lol. I'll get better!
Again, thanks so much!!
Wow, this was really useful! I'm currently writing a novel and didn't want to have to go through my mom to get it published.( she doesn't really like fantasy genre, akward)
I know a book about the same stuff; it's On Writing by Stephen King, and it has tips on publishing and writing stuff (spelling, grammar, style, characters, etc.). On Writing is supposed to be Stephen King's autobiography, but the majority of the book is about how to write. This article is really great for TheOtaku members just looking to get something published, but if anyone else is considering becoming a writer, I definately recommend On Writing to them! ^.^
editing and changing stuff is a pain in the butt for some ppl? not for me... I can and do spend hours sitting in front of my computer proofreading, editing, meditating on characters and realizing how they acted in one part or another wasn't entirely in character for them. I have no problem changing the whole chapter if it's not quite right... but that's just me.
very useful information, thank you!
Thank you so much for this! I'm currently finishing up a manuscript that I want to take a shot at publishing, and I've been lying awake nights wondering how to go about it. It's nice to have this resource from someone who knows the business.
Nice job, Axel! This was really informative and helpful. On the off chance I'll ever want to get a book published (I doubt it), I'll look here. Kudos! ^__^
Thats really helpful! I have been thinking of becoming a writer myself and this will help me get along when I finally am ready to seriously start writing stories/books/ect and get them published.

Great read.

I have one small question.
Why did you keep putting proofread in quotations? It is a real word, and not to my knowledge obscure....
Other than that, good stuff. (^_^)
