I am loving this! The blending you've done with the shading and highlights looks GREAT.

Whatever you do for the background, make sure it's not too bright or busy!! Blaziken needs to stand out, and bright colors stand out, so have the background more dull. Maybe a mountain/rocky landscape, where Blaziken might be training. Try to blend the outlines and make it seem blurred, like how faraway things seem blurry because they're out of focus! :>

as for background, I kinda like what Dark suggested with Blazikin's shadow? and maybe some fire?

That's cool.
The background lines look like a shadow of the Blaziken, maybe you could make a faded version of him for the background and the word "Blaziken" on the side or whatever, I think that'd look cool.
